Mystory@Vivek Kumar Poddar

I was a naughty kid in school and was known to all my teachers due to my naughtiness. But at the same I was a rank holder too, thus was liked by all of them. I loved taking part in all the extra-curricular activities. But I hated Maths. So in Class 11, I was sure of not opting for Science as I wouldn’t have been able to take the pressure of Maths. The next option for me was Commerce. Soon, I developed love for Accounting as it was all related to business. During my class 12 exams I was sure to pursue Graduation in B.Com.

How I cracked college admission

As I wanted to pursue Marketing Management in my Post Graduation, I took a drop year to prepare for CAT. I joined Career Launcher for CAT coaching. Unfortunately, I was unable to score well in CAT, but still, I applied to 6-7 colleges throughout India. I was selected for admission in three colleges. I had the chance of joining IBS, Kolkata but I dropped it because I wanted to explore more options. Other option were the Heritage Business School, Kolkata and Asian Business School, Noida. I opted for the latter as it was perfect for me.

All about my college life

I enjoy my college life a lot. I’ve made many friends and we enjoy a lot. Initially, the strict rule of 80% attendance was difficult for me to adapt to but I managed somehow. I have gained knowledge about many new topics and subjects and the faculty helps us a lot in these.

The live projects that I did provided me with more knowledge and practical experience. Even in MBA, my favourite subject remains to be Accounts

In a quiz organized by Business Standard, I won the third prize which boosted my confidence further.

In college, I learned table tennis and also play snooker with my friends and seniors. Many other extra-curricular activities like clubs, sports events, fests etc. are organized in the college on regular basis. I have represented my college in inter-college events and won certificates. Participating in different activities has made me extrovert and more knowledgeable. Now, I don’t sweat over the thought of speaking to a large crowd. I have discovered my strengths and weaknesses and I am learning how to convert my weakness into my strength.

In a quiz organized by Business Standard, I won the third prize which boosted my confidence further.

Till now my college experience has been very good and I have learned a lot during my course and I am still learning. With new challenges every day I look forward to a great future with all the learnings to make it big in life.
