Students’ Speak: A unique resume can get you visibility during placements

Placement is the most crucial time of the course for MBA students. With the ongoing placement drives across management colleges, Akila Narayanan shares some of the key placement eligibility criteria for Thiagarajar School of Management.

In Thiagarajar School of Management, the first and foremost placement eligibility is not to have any arrears during the time of companies' visit.

• A minimum CGPA of 5.5 is enough to sit for the placements unless and until the company doesn’t demand the percentage. According to TSM, having a lower CGPA doesn’t mean that you will get placed at last or in a low company and having higher CGPA will never make you get placed easily. Students of TSM can sit for a lot of companies and can attend the recruitment process in whichever company they want to get in. There will be no restriction and no compulsion to make a student attend a specific drive. The slogan of TSM is “learn to learn”.
• A student attending placements should have at least a minimum attendance of 75 percent throughout the course completion only then that student will be allowed to sit for placement. “Preparation is the key to success”, is the only quote believed by the students of TSM.
• There are many elective papers in the second year in which we can opt based on the major and minor domains we choose, and there will be no restriction regarding opting for an elective.
• The only major requirement needed is each and every student should have a unique resume to impress the Human Resource Manager and make them ask you questions in whatever field you’re specialized in. It is the student’s responsibility to take the interview in their path.
• For building our resume, we have to make maximum use of all the resources provided by the college and we also have to participate in many other college events, conferences and workshops to gain exposure which will be helpful during the time of placement and we will have more information to share during the personal interview of the recruitment process.
• TSM is well-known for marketing, which brings you a lot of exposure towards the market trend and the faculty of TSM will guide the students in doing many live projects which help each student’s life apart from placement. TSM has its own platform to apply for placements and all the applying and shortlisting process is done on that. It is specially done for the students of TSM.
• TSM focuses more on the well-being of the students both personally and professionally. Alumni of TSM are placed in well-reputed organisations and some are now emerging as successful entrepreneurs.
