The benefits of internships are building up the resume, gain knowledge technical, communicational and soft skills such as self-confidence and development.

In Integrated Masters of Business Administration (I-MBA), internship opportunity is provided to students to get a chance to learn and explore the issues or ideas by working.

It gives improved skills, professional communication, independence, connections, and confidence. Ahmedabad University believes that an internship is important for career growth. So, the university makes it mandatory to intern during I-MBA. For availing the internships, students need to register with the career development center (CDC). CDC has been introduced in the college for giving opportunities to students for their development of curriculum.

In the first three years, students are required to do corporate and NGO internship. Further, after post-graduation, students can acquire an internship in the major they have chosen. In every internship, students get selected on the company’s pre-referral evaluation. Every student gets an internship with their eligibility and criteria varies from company to company. The company might take the interview of students, keeping in mind the resume of the candidate and the student is selected on that basis. After completion of the internship, there is students’ individual evaluation which includes their views, reflection, what they have learned in the process and objectives. Projects undertaken in the internships are the assignments allotted. On the basis of the learnings, one has to make a report on work carried out in the internship and being an intern what the student has contributed to the organisation so that the faculty understands how much a student has learned.  In the last year of the course, there is a long internship (generally six months) which sometimes provides a position there itself. Criteria for placements also differ from company to company. There’s a possibility one might be working in the same organisation he/she completed the internship from.

On successful completion of the internships, they receive a certificate for the same.

Some of the major companies I-MBA students have interned in the past few years are Amul, Cera Sharpex, Adani Wilmar, Shatayu, Elixir Foundation, Zydus Hospital, and others. Students are allowed to do internships and placements off campus but that is their own. I am myself engaged in U & I (NGO) internship currently which serves underprivileged children.

The benefits of internships are building up the resume, gain knowledge technical, communicational and soft skills such as self-confidence and development. It gives the student a chance to work on an industry-driven project and also gives the student an experience that helps in enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving.
