Students’ Speak: What feels like an end is often the beginning

From being an academic nerd to a corporate-ready woman, Parna Saha shares her roller coaster of an MBA journey and some key learnings.

Every sunrise brings a new ray of hope that propels us further to pursue our dreams and set higher goals. It does not allow us to stop until the goal is reached. Dreams arises and awaken us and only those which are seen with eyes wide open act as fuel to the propeller.

My campus placement experience has been a replica of the above lines.

Dreams are what keep me alive and change has been the only constant in my life.

From being an academic nerd to a corporate-ready woman, I have come a long way and this couldn't have been possible without a constant source of motivation and guidance that has come from my parents and teachers whom I couldn't thank enough.

I would take this platform as an opportunity to thank each and every guide, teacher, mentor, senior and friend right from my childhood till date who has always supported and guided me and helped me shape my personality and become the person I am today.

It all started with a spark that tingled within me and gave me a sudden feeling of positivity that "Yes!-You can Do It!" and hence my journey towards pursuing my corporate career began and I landed at Sri Balaji University's Balaji Institute of Modern Management in Pune.

I had an amazing experience during my placement and I feel proud to have been placed in a world-class multi-national company. The process happened for two long days and comprised of a group task, group discussion and one-on-one interaction that went on for over one and a half hours for every group. Finally, after clearing all the rounds, the Personal Interview round was held with the HR, and I got selected.

I took up a special regime for my placement preparation. I started watching videos of interviews and started getting my own tailor-made answers for the most obvious questions asked to almost every student by both technical and HR person. Also, I started following news and current trends regularly and make notes for group discussions. Nonetheless, I also practised aptitude and my subject simultaneously and above all, I didn’t forget to enjoy my days and the placement processes.

I would like to share some key learnings:

  • Know yourself and work on your weakness and sharpen your strength.
  • Start getting comfortable with Uncertainty.
  • Never stop learning.
  • Manage time well.

One thing I would definitely like to suggest to everyone that happiness is the key to all your good doings. So never deprive yourself of doing something that makes you happy and enjoy the roller coaster ride that every MBA student has to go through and never feel sad upon rejections as they guide you in the right path of discovering yourself.

Last but not the least, I would like to state that our college has a well-dedicated placement cell and the team coordinated by the students and faculty which places all the students of our college and also I have been placed due to their continuous effort.
