This is the best time to strike a balance between knowledge and entertainment: Abhishek, WeSchool

These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

Personally, the convenience of attending a lecture within the comforts of my home has been the most striking difference between an online class and the traditional classroom one. And e-learning is not only enjoyable as of now but also bound to be the norm in the future. With the advent of widespread Internet and the latest technology innovations, it is simply impossible to not incorporate these two phenomena in the education sector.

If given a choice to choose between an online class and a brick and mortar one, I’ll surely opt for the former. People preferring online learning nowadays more is due to the overall convenience aspect it provides, along with a flexible schedule that is not easily available in classroom learning. One can, thus, easily save a lot of time, effort, and cost while pursuing e-learning. However, unlike classroom learning, the feel of interpersonal interaction between the students and teachers would be somewhat missing here. However, by providing a live query resolution, this problem can be addressed effectively; making online education more appealing, relevant as well as smooth. At the same time, offline learning anyways is heavily influenced by the Internet, in terms of accessing online reading resources, presentations, certification courses, etc. With technology bound to play a more critical role in any sector, it’s imperative for us students be more tech-savvy and be updated about the latest tech trends.

I’m spending the extra leisure time trying to strike a balance between gaining knowledge and entertainment by reading books, brushing up some basic skills in MS Office, pursuing some online certification courses as and when required, watching various web series, movies, gaming, and assisting in all the household chores.

As of now, though the exams have been postponed to April end, no fixed dates have been declared by the college as yet. However, we have been told to regularly study since online exams would most likely be conducted for all the subjects. Coming to appearing for any competitive exam, no I am not doing so since I’m rather eagerly awaiting the joining date of my new job.

And yes, unlike before, my parents can see as well as experience what kind of subjects, assignments, and projects in my management education in a much better manner. And due to this lockdown, I can talk to them more about my academics, the convenience in a sudden shift towards e-learning, would-be job, among many other topics.
