TISSNET 2024 Exam-Taking Strategy

While deciding on the strategy for attempting the test, candidates should keep in mind the following factors.

Browse the Question Paper: Before starting the test, candidates should go through all 100 questions from the three sections. This will give them an idea about the difficulty level of the exam and the question types. With this, they can chalk out a brief idea about the number of questions to attempt in each section and how much time they should allot to each section.

Start with the Strong Section: Test-takers should start with their strong section. This will help them boost their confidence level. Moreover, starting with easy sections and questions will help them secure maximum marks within these areas. While it is true that wrong answers would not lead to any penalty, that would not yield marks as well. Hence it is better to invest time in the areas of strength rather than taking chance on questions that they are not completely sure about the accuracy.

Shortlist Questions to Attempt in Advance: Before starting a section, candidates should shortlist the questions they are comfortable attempting. It is not compulsory to attempt all the questions. Hence, they should be careful in selecting the questions which would be sufficient to crack the sectional cut off. They must also mark some buffer questions so that in case they get stuck while solving a question, or it takes more time than usual, they would be able to switch to those questions.

Duration to Devote Per Question: Test-takers should pre-decide the duration to attempt a question. For example, in the questions from Mathematical and Logical Reasoning or Reading Comprehension questions, which are time-consuming, should not be allotted more than five to six minutes. On the other hand, questions from General Awareness (GA) and English Usage should not take more than one or two minutes.

Attempt Maximum Question from GA Section: As stated in the exam structure above, the GA section carries the maximum questions. Hence, in a bid to secure maximum marks, test-takers should aim to attempt as many questions in this section as possible accurately. Securing high marks in this section by attempting a high number of questions would also reflect on the candidates’ general knowledge and current affairs.

Double Check Before Final Submission: Test-takers must ensure to keep at least 10 to 15 minutes extra to revise the answers before submitting the final answers. Candidates often tend to commit silly mistakes and with thorough revision, they would be able to rectify those on time. TISSNET exam allows candidates to attempt and save but not submit, and candidates should utilise this feature well. In case candidates do not change the answers, those would get submitted automatically at the end of the exam duration, which is 100 minutes.

Last but not the least, candidates must maintain their composure throughout the exam duration. Being nervous or panicking even if the exam is of a higher level of difficulty than expected will not help them in any way. Apart from that, following the above pointers to set the strategy would render expected results.
