Overview

The registration window for CA Inter Sep 2026 exam will open on July 06, 2026 at SSP portal. Candidates who wish to appear for upcoming session must register for the exam by last date. To apply for CA Inter exam, a candidate must have a valid registration. Only registered candidates will be issued admit card to sit in the exam hall. After the CA Intermediate September 2026 application process ends, ICAI will open the exam form correction window for three days. CA Inter Sep 2026 exams will be conducted between Sep 01 and Sep 12, 2026. Check the page below for detailed information.

How to Fill CA Intermediate exam form 2026?

Application form for Sep 2026 will have to be submitted in online mode only. Check below, how to apply:

  • Go to ICAI SSP portal: https://eservices.icai.org/
  • Click on login and enter details as required (New users can use 'New User Register here!' option)
  • Click on confirmation/declaration and 'Register' button to complete ICAI exam registration
  • Once registered, go back to login option
  • Choose registration number in the drop-down and authenticate
  • Login with registration number and password
  • Add relevant details and upload necessary documents
  • Make payment of application fee
  • Download the duly filled CA exam form for future reference

Note: Students can select their preferred exam centre in city/zone.

ICAI CA Intermediate Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates are eligible to apply for CA Inter exam through direct entry or by passing CA Foundation exam.

Particulars Eligibility
Through CPT/PE-I/Entrance/ Foundation Candidates registered for CA Intermediate course based on having passed CPT/PE-I/Entrance/Foundation or candidates converted to CA Intermediate from IPCE/Intermediate(IPC)/Intermediate(Erstwhile)/PE-II/PCE, the eligibility criteria is 8 months study course as on first day of the month in which examination to be held i.e. registered on or before relevant month.
Through Direct Entry (Graduates/Post Graduates)
  • Candidates registered for or converted to CA Intermediate through Direct Entry (Graduates/Post Graduates), the eligibility criteria is 9 months of Articleship, i.e. commenced Articleship on or before relevant month.
  • Candidates registered through CA CPT route and appeared in the CA Intermediate (IPC) exam in one or both groups but did not qualify both the group or either of groups and converted to Intermediate (IPC) under the Direct Entry Scheme and now converted to Intermediate, the eligibility criteria is commencement of Articleship on or before relevant month or;
  • Candidate who registered through CA CPT/CA Foundation route and appeared in the CA CA Intermediate exam in one or both groups but did not qualify both the group or either of groups and now converted to Direct Entry Scheme, the eligibility criteria is commencement of Articleship on or before relevant month.
Through Direct Entry (Inter level pass of Company Secretaries of India or the ICSI)

Candidates registered for or converted to CA Intermediate by passing Inter level of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, the eligibility criteria is 8 months study course.

ICAI CA Application Form 2026: Documents Required

Candidates have to upload their photo and signature while filling CA Inter online form. While uploading these documents, they must ensure following things:

Photograph

  • The passport size photo should be injpg/jpeg format and of 20-50 KB
  • It should be against white background
  • 80 % of the face should be visible including ears
  • The photo must have a clear contrast of the image
  • Photo with caps/headgears or goggles are not acceptable
  • Religious headgear is allowed but it should not cover the face
  • Photo wearing spectacles is acceptable.
  • The photo should not be having “red-eye”

Signature

    • Signature should on a white sheet with a black pen.
    • The file size must be between 10-20 KB.
    • The scanned signature should be well cropped and the format should be jpg/jpeg.

Important Instructions While Filling CA Intermediate Application Form

Key points to remember while filling CA Intermediate Application Form 2026 are as follows:

  • Students have to create a login ID on the official ICAI website through one-time registration.
  • The username and password will be shared through an email and SMS.
  • Students have to use username and password to access the ICAI CA Inter application form.
  • They must enter valid details and fill every mandatory field. Incomplete forms will not get submitted in the portal.
  •  Application fee is to be paid through Visa/Master/Maestro Credit/Debit Card.
  • After successful payment of fees, students must download the duly filled form and save it.
  • Get ICAI CA Intermediate application form attested by a Chartered Accountant or a Gazetted Officer or Principal of School/College.
  • Students have to upload/edit their photograph and signature on the SSP before submitting the exam form, if required.
  • Those whose articleship status (CA Final/Intermediate Direct Entry) is in pending mode due to documentation must update the status on SSP before filling the CA exam form.
  • CA Intermediate students whose registration mode (i.e. route through which they have registered for CA Intermediate course like CA CPT/CA Foundation/Graduate/ICSI etc.) is not appearing on the dashboard can raise a ticket in SSP for resolving of it before the commencement of application process.

Points to Keep in Mind Before Registering for CA Inter Exam

Before filling the CA Intermediate exam form 2026 please check following:

  • To fill the CA Inter exam form, students must have valid login credentials on Self Service Portal (SSP) and a valid course registration.
  • If the validity of the registration has lapsed, they must re-validate or convert on SSP at https://eservices.icai.org/.
  • CA Course Registration Validity of CA Intermediate is 5 years and the fee for revalidation of CA Intermediate course registration is INR 400.
  • Conversion: Candidate whose course code is not as under need to convert to new course before making application. No fees is required to be paid

  • For Conversion, use your login credentials of SSP and Go to Student Functions- -> Student Module -->Course Registration--> Apply for Conversion Convert Old to New Course
    • Code: NEWINT23 or CONINT23
  • Candidates also have to check the quality of photo and signature and upload new ones if required, in the Self Service Portal before filling up the CA Inter exam form.

  • Visit https://eservices.icai.org
  • Login with your registration ID and password 
  • Open your CA Intermediate exam form and review entries
  • If no editing is required, select “No change required” option
  • If editing is required select “Changes required” option
  • Make changes and verify with OTP received in email/phone
  • Upload a scanned handwritten application, signed by you (in relevant format)
  • After submission, take a print out of acknowledgement form

It is not easy, yet not impossible to crack CA Intermediate exam without coaching. If a student is determined, disciplined and fully dedicated towards CA Inter exam preparation, she/she can crack it with self-study.

 

Q:   What are the overseas exam cities for CA Inter exam?
A: 

ICAI CA Intermediate exam is conducted in following 9 overseas cities:

Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Thimphu (Bhutan), Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu (Nepal), Kuwait, Muscat and Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)

Q:   What is the time duration of ICAI CA exams?
A: 

The time duration of ICAI CA exams varies for each paper. For some papers, the duration is three hours whereas for some papers it is two hours. The time limit of CA Foundation paper 3 and 4 is two hours and for rest of the papers across levels is three hours. There is no sectional time limit in CA exams. 

Q:   Is there provision of rechecking or reevaluation in CA course exams?
A: 

Yes, the candidates can apply for scorecard verification after the result announcement. The facility is available for all three course levels. The window for rechecking of a particular CA course opens a day after announcement of the result. Candidates can apply for scorecard verification within a month of result announcement along with a demand draft of INR 200 in favour of the Secretary, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, payable at New Delhi. The fee is non-refundable and the result of rechecking will be final. Students can’t apply for rechecking more than once.

Q:   How many times does ICAI conduct CA exam in a year?
A: 

ICAI conducts CA exams three times a year. These are May, September and January. To appear for the exam, candidates have to register and apply before deadline. The registration schedule is released by ICAI on its official website - icai.org.

Q:   Is CA Inter exam easy or tough?
A: 

Yes, ICAI CA Intermediate exam is tough. There are total 6 papers, divided into 2 groups, in CA Inter exam. The syllabus includes topics related to Accounting, Taxation, Corporate Law, etc., which are tough to crack. The pass percentage of CA Intermediate exams is very low - 10%.

Q:   What are the minimum marks required to qualify CA Intermediate exam?
A: 

Minimum score requirement to pass CA Intermediate is 40% per paper and 50% overall. If a candidate scores 60% or more in one subject and fails another subject, he/she can apply for exemption, if all requirements are met.

Q:   What is the total marks in CA Intermediate exam?
A: 

According to the marking scheme and CA Intermediate exam pattern, the total marks in CA Intermediate is 100 marks per paper.
