For past couple of years CBSE and Education Ministry has been holding deliberations on conducting board exams twice a year. This has been done to reduce exam pressure from students and also provide them with an additional opportunity to improve their marks.

Student and Teachers Reactions

Since CBSE has announced datesheet for board examination 2026, students are discussing about new exam format. Some are relieved as extra time is being given, while others are concerned about extended preparation period.

"Having two chances feels like a safety net, but the wait between two exams is nerve wracking," said Moumita, a Class 10 student from from Bhubaneswar.

Another Class 10 student from Jaipur, Rohan said: "I appreciate the flexibility, but I hope the gap doesn't affect our focus."

"The two session will help students who face unforeseen circumstances during the first exam," says Maya Sharma, a teacher at a CBSE-affiliated school in Delhi. "However, the extended timeline may lead to prolonged stress and impact students' mental well-being," she added while speaking to Shiksha.

As CBSE will conduct this new two session exam format, students and teachers both are still exploring changed exam system.
