The Board has postponed the CBSE Class 12th board exam which was earlier scheduled to be conducted in May. The Education Ministry had said that a decision regarding the new date sheet will be taken on June 1.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the CBSE 12th board exam which was scheduled to be conducted in May. The Education Ministry informed that a decision regarding the new date sheet will be taken on June 1.
According to noted media reports, experts suggest that given the current pandemic situation, the decision to cancel CBSE 12th board exams cannot be dismissed. There needs to be an alternate assessment strategy to deal with the same.
“Most of the people in the world have never seen such a situation. This is a worldwide pandemic and the situation of India cannot be ignored. We can hope for things to improve but no one can tell by when. Given the circumstances, how long do we continue to postpone the exams?” said a retired teacher, Mohanty to media.
“Many students have lost a family member to the pandemic. They are young and worried about life, tackling grief and uncertainty already. With all this happening, the government must consider cancelling the exams and find an alternative assessment plan as they have done for Class 10,” said a Delhi school counsellor.
However, the CBSE is yet to take a decision on Class 12 board exams. In this regard, several students have voiced their opinions for cancellation of exams on Twitter and other social media handles while making the hashtag #Cancel12thboardexams2021 viral.
As per the CBSE notification, students who are to appear for the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 will get a 15-day notice for the date sheet before the commencement of the examinations.
Meanwhile, the board has released a detailed policy document for CBSE 10th result 2021 evaluation. The document lists out the parameters based on which Class 10 students will be evaluated, including a weighted average of periodic, half-yearly, and pre-board exams. The CBSE also directed schools to moderate the marking based on historical data regarding the student, a decision that was welcomed by experts.
