Ashoka Aptitude Assessment is an important part of the admission process for undergraduate programmes at Ashoka University, Sonipat. Applicants receive the test link on their registered email. Students can take the exam from any location with a stable internet connection and a working webcam. These are required for identity verification. The test evaluates a student’s problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Through AAT, Ashoka University offers BA/ BSc programmes where students can choose a major from 9 pure or 8 interdisciplinary subjects. They can also select two co-curricular courses and one optional course from different fields. Students who have taken SAT/ ACT must also appear for AAT, and the higher score will be considered. Ashoka Aptitude Test (AAT) is conducted by Ashoka University for admission to its undergraduate programs such as BA and BSc. It is a university-level exam that includes the Ashoka Aptitude Assessment (AAA) and an On-the-Spot Essay (OSE), followed by an interview round. The test is held offline in English across 39 cities. The various stages of the Ashoka University Admission process are explained below.

1. Registration

Aspirants must first register on the university's official website with a valid email ID to apply for AAT 2026. The login details for the Ashoka Aptitude Test application form will be emailed to candidate at the registered email ID. All communications from Ashoka University will be sent to the aspirant’s registered email ID.

2. Fill Out Ashoka Aptitude Test Application Form

After completing registration, candidates need to fill out Ashoka University admission form online. AAT application form is free of charge. Applicants should carefully review all the details they enter. Along with the form, they must upload the required documents.

3. Take the Ashoka Aptitude Test

Next up, candidates will be informed about the test dates, timings, etc., on the contact details they have provided during the application process. The link to the assessment will be provided to the candidates on email. 

The AAT has two parts - 

• Ashoka Aptitude Test: The AAT will be conducted in online mode and questions will be based on problem-solving skills (including numerical and spatial reasoning) and crucial thinking skills (including understanding arguments and reasoning using everyday language). The AAT has 40 MCQs.
• On-The-Spot Essay: The examinees will be given 30 more minutes to write a short essay of about 650 words. The essay questions may be based on current affairs, social issues or situations, etc.

4. Appear for Interview Round

The next round of the selection process is a personal interview. Students will be questioned on both academics and personal skills.  Ashoka University will conduct panel interviews in order to shortlist aspirants for admission for the academic year 2026-27. Once applicants go through the interview round they can expect to receive one of the following communications:

• Firm offer of admission
• A conditional offer of admission
• Waitlisted (possibility of an offer at the end of the admissions cycle or earlier)
• Deferred (possibility of an offer after receiving final class XII scores)
• Denial of admission

Ashoka Aptitude Test select candidates based on their performance in the interview round. The interview round is conducted after students already appeared for AAT 2026. This round includes questions of both academics and personal skills. A panel is set to evaluate the knowledge and skills of students and their communication skills. 

One can get selected for Ashoka University only after qualifying for the interview round. Remember, if you fail to get good scores in this round, your complete application will be rejected. You can reapply for AAT in next admission cycle. Students who pass this round can receive any of the following:

• Deferred

Ashoka Aptitude Test 2026 Interview Centres

Refer to the list of cities where the Ashoka Aptitude Test 2026 will be conducted.
If you are unable to travel to any of the listed cities for the Ashoka Aptitude Test interview, you may request a Skype interview as an alternative.
This provision is intended for candidates residing in distant locations or facing travel constraints. It is important to inform Ashoka University of your situation in a timely manner.

If you are living in India, you must take the Ashoka Aptitude Test at a physical test centre. The exam is conducted in person only and is not available in online mode. While filling the Ashoka University application form, you have to select your test city from the given list. Choose the Ashoka Aptitude Test centre carefully before final submission, because the selected exam city usually cannot be changed later.

If you are living outside India, you need to choose the option that says you are not a resident of India. After you submit the form, the Ashoka University admissions team will get in touch with you. If you mention any physical or mobility-related issue in the support section, the Office of Admissions will assist you with the assessment process. You must appear for the Ashoka Aptitude Test in the same admission round, or else your application will not be considered further.

Ashoka Aptitude Test Centres 2026

Registration for AAT 2026 Round III is now open. Before applying to Ashoka University, make sure you meet the eligibility criteria. You can apply for Ashoka University’s undergraduate programmes using your SAT or ACT scores, AAT scores, or your final Class XII board marks. If you are applying with SAT or ACT scores, include them in your AAT application form.

Students who have not yet received their Class XII results can still get an admission offer based on their SAT, ACT, or AAT scores. This is useful in the first round, as many students don’t have their final marks yet. No one is rejected until the University reviews the final Class XII results. Ashoka University also accepts CUET scores, giving students another option for admission.

Ashoka Aptitude Test pattern is available on the official website. It includes four main toppics: Logical Reasoning, Verbal Aptitude, Quantitative Aptitude, and Data Interpretation. All questions are in mutliple-choice-question format. Students need to choose one correct answer for each question from the given choices. AAT exam includes on-spot-essay writing assessment. Students need to write a creative essay on the topic given.
