Time limit to attempt the on-the-spot essay in Ashoka Aptitude Test is 30 minutes. Students can take essay questions after aptitude test questions. A 5-minute break is given after essay question. During evaluation, exam body will consider candidates' engagement with prompt, creativity, clarity of thought and critical thinking skills.  

Only students that pass the aptitude test of the Ashoka University admission procedure will be shortlisted for the interview round. The questions asked during the interview are designed to evaluate the candidates personality more than their knowledge of their chosen subject. According to the university's website, the interview seeks to understand and get to know the candidate, their story and their background. Moreover, the interview is conducted to judge the candidates' suitability for the university's academic and residential programmes. The interview is conducted by a panel of the admission committe members and the duration of the interview varies from student to student. 

AAT sample papers are an essential resource for preparations. Aspirants must go through these papers at least once before the test to get an idea of the types of questions they will have to take eventually. The time limit to take the test is 90 minutes. While solving a sample paper, aspirants can also get an idea of their speed with which they attempt the paper. 

The university has set the following rules and regulations for taking Ashoka Aptitude Test remotely. 

• Examinees must have a government-issued photo ID while taking the test.
• They can take 5-minute bio breaks during designated break sections. 
• They are allowed to use pen and paper for rough work.
• Calculators are not allowed.
• Webcam must be enabled at all times and the face of the examinee must be visible.
• The assessment can only be taken on desktops or laptops. 

The university provides some sample papers on their website. However, potential students can also practice by solving generic problem solving, critical thinking and reasoning questions. Not much emphasis is given to subject-specific questions in the test. Since, this entrance exam is for undergraduate programmes, applicants are advised to study their high school study material to study for the test. 

The dates for AAT 2025 are - 

• December 8, 2024
• January 25, 2025
• May 4, 2025

According to Ashoka University's website, applicants can only apply for one round of exam for each admission cycle. So no, you cannot take Ashoka Aptitude Assessment twice in one year.  

Exam takers have to type their AAT essay on the same system on which took rest of the test. They will be given a 5 minute break before attempting the essay question. The fixed time limit to take the essay question is 30 mins and their is no word limit.  

Start by reading as a regular task. This will better your command over the language. Start writing, start with describing things then slowly advance to research based content. Keep up with the current events. Follow the news. Download a news application if it helps. Also, do some light reading on notable historical events, policies, current affairs, laws, issues, etc. 

You can refer to any competitive questions book for the reasoning part of the test. Other than that, your course books must be enough.

The Ashoka Aptitude Test is conducted in several sessions at different times throughout the year. It is advisable that candidates start preparing for the entrance exam at least two months is advance. For instance, if your exam is to be conducted in December, you should start preparations in October. While preparing candidates can focus more on the reasoning and data interpretation sections since they already have some subject-wise knowledge.

Students will be selected based on their potential for academic rigor and extra-curricular engagement. These include AAT Ashoka Aptitude Test or ACT (American College Testing) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores or 10+2 marks projects, and research, if applicable, as well as the disciplined and committed pursuit of varied interests and passions.
