Held from March 21 to March 23, the International Conference on Digital Transformation brought together leading academicians, researchers, and industry professionals to discuss the evolving landscape of digital transformation in business, technology, and society.

The International Conference on Digital Transformation (ICDT 2025), jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur and the Snyder Innovation Management Center, Syracuse University, USA, successfully concluded after three days of insightful research presentations, workshops, and keynote addresses. Held from March 21 to March 23, the conference brought together leading academicians, researchers, and industry professionals to discuss the evolving landscape of digital transformation in business, technology, and society. Notably, many of the papers and workshops focused on technological advancements related to the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat initiative.

Inaugural Address Highlights Importance of Digital Transformation

The conference was inaugurated by Professor S P Raj, Chair of the Marketing Department and Distinguished Professor at Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University. In his opening address, Professor Raj emphasized how digital transformation is reshaping industries, education, and the broader global landscape. "Digital transformation is no longer an option but a necessity in both business and education," he stated, setting the tone for the discussions and research presentations that followed.

40 Research Papers on Critical Aspects of Digital Transformation

A total of 40 research papers were presented during the conference, covering a wide range of critical topics within digital transformation. These papers delved into areas including fintech, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, digital literacy, and cybersecurity. Some notable research included studies on the impact of organizational culture on employee creativity in the digital era, the adoption of digital payments by construction workers, the behavioral dynamics of trading app usage in India, and the feasibility of integrating instant loan facilities into digital payment platforms.

Other significant research included studies on strategic policy roadmaps for the responsible implementation of AI, the influence of explainable AI on recruitment biases, and the role of anthropomorphic AI in education.

Special Workshop on GenAI and Business Transformation

One of the highlights of ICDT 2025 was a special workshop on GenAI and business transformation, led by Mr. Shiv Kumar, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at L’Oréal India. Mr. Kumar discussed how AI is revolutionizing consumer insights in the fashion industry, noting that "GenAI is reshaping how we approach data analytics, unlocking possibilities we never imagined before." The workshop explored the transformational potential of generative AI in business processes and data-driven decision-making.

Sessions on Academic Research and Publication

Out of 282 participating students, 32 students did not seek placement through the Institute, 1 student returned to family business, 21 students sought placement outside the process and 10 students were unplaced during IIM Kashipur placements 2024.

The conference also featured a session on academic research, where Professor Raji Srinivasan, Co-Editor of JAMS and Chair at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas, provided valuable advice on structuring research papers for high-impact publications. “A research paper needs to tell a compelling story that captivates the editor and reviewers first,” she stated, offering essential tips for aspiring academic authors.

Similarly, Professor Alina Sorescu from Mays Business School, Texas A&M University, discussed how to craft winning research papers. She emphasized the importance of novelty and relevance in academic contributions, saying, “It’s not enough that your solution is novel; it has to be relevant and interesting.”

Overwhelming Response and Participation from Leading Institutions

ICDT 2025 saw an overwhelming response from participants, with submissions from some of India’s top academic institutions. The conference attracted abstract submissions from prestigious institutions such as IIM Bangalore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Amritsar, IIT Roorkee, IIT Bombay, Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, IITISM Dhanbad, Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, and Welingkar Institute of Management (WeSchool Mumbai). This strong participation reinforced the significance of digital transformation in academia, industry, and governance.

The conference concluded with a valedictory session where participants were awarded certificates of appreciation for their contributions to the event. The success of ICDT 2025 highlighted IIM Kashipur’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge research and global collaborations in the field of digital transformation.
