Admission in all the UG courses of this institution is done on the basis of admission policy of Technical Education & Skill Development Department of Government of Madhya Pradesh. As per the present policy admission in these courses are being done on the basis of All India Ranking (AIR) of the candidate in the JEE Examination of that year. Hi there!
This is management's decision. Usually in most colleges 2nd year onwards students are settled first. Then they start the fresh batch and Orientation. Sometimes due to some technical Issues (could be admissions still on for the last few seats available etc. ). Dates are postponed. So this should not be a concerned area. Just Chill and Enjoy your College once it gets started. Thank you.

Depend on the branch that you want to take admission now. Admissions are still open till 27 July, so you can try your luck, since its a really nice place to pursue B.Tech from.

There are certain criteria that need to be satisfied if you want to get admission into and undergraduate course, namely B.Tech in your case, in Thapar University:
1. 10+2 with 60%marks and 55% for SC/ST
2. At least 20% marks in JEE Main (15% for SC/ST)
or
1. 10+2 with at least 80% marks (75% for SC/ST) aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and any one of- Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science
2. 15% marks in JEE Main (10% for SC/ST)
1. 10+2 with 60%marks and 55% for SC/ST

or

You can get admission there through JEE Mains or MHCET.
You have to score minimum 50% marks in your 12th to be eligible.
