Candidates can check below the seat allocation rule followed for admission in M.Tech of DTU for the GATE qualifying students:

The total number of seats (out of 18) should be-

  • 60 % (~11) for (aa) i.e B.E/B.Tech. in Engineering
  • 40% (~7) for (ab) i.e M.Sc. and (ac) i.e MCA.
  • During the spot round, all seats will be merged and offered to Engineering
students (aa) first, then to MCA students (ab) and then to M.Sc. students (ac)

A common merit of GATE score be made for shortlisting. Candidates having AMIE/AMIS/AMIIChE/AMIIM/Grad IETE, who possess B.Sc. or Diploma in engineering are also eligible to apply for admission to M.Tech. courses.

There isn't one magic book for LEET that guarantees admission to universities like DTU or Thapar. I've seen most students do well by first covering their Diploma basics properly and then practicing previous year papers as much as possible.

For Mathematics, books like R.S. Aggarwal are quite common, and for technical subjects, your Diploma textbooks are usually more important than collecting too many reference books.

The main thing is regular practice and understanding concepts instead of jumping between different books. Previous papers and mock tests probably help more than buying another guide.

Engineering Degree vs Diploma mainly differs in depth, duration, and career scope. A Diploma in Engineering (like Civil Engineering) is usually 3 years after 10th and focuses more on practical skills, helping you start working earlier in technician or junior roles. A Degree (B.Tech/BE) is 4 years after 12th and gives deeper theoretical + technical knowledge, which opens better long-term growth, higher positions, and more opportunities in private and government sectors. If you want quicker entry into the job market, Diploma is a good start, especially in fields like Civil Engineering where site work and practical exposure matter a lot. DTU and IIT Delhi has made a name for themselves in the industry. DTU has been ranked at the 30th position under the Engineering category. DTU has also been ranked at the 2nd position under the 'Engineering' category by the NIRF Ranking 2025.

DTU the highest international & domestic package offered during DTU placements 2025 was INR 1.8 Crore per Annum and 85 LPA. IIT Delhi BTech median package offered in 2024 was INR 19.08 LPA.
