The official marking scheme of WBJEE 2023 has been released online. Candidates can now access the marking scheme to check how their responses will be marked by the authorities. For Category I questions, each correct answer will be awarded one mark. An incorrect response will yield a loss of 1/4 mark. As per the WBJEE 2023 pattern, the questions are divided into three categories. Category I consists of 110 multiple-choice questions where only one answer option is correct. Category II will consist of 25 multiple-choice questions where the candidates will have to select only one correct option. Finally, Category III will consist of 20 multiple-choice questions where one or more option will be correct. Candidates will have to answer majority of the questions in the examination correctly to have a higher chance of being qualified for the exam.

WBJEE 2023 was held as an offline test I. e. , pen-and-paper-based. The examination was held for four hours and the candidates had to select their answers for the multiple-choice questions in OMR sheets. At the examination centre, the candidates were provided with the OMR sheets and pen to complete the examination. The examination was designed to assess the candidate's knowledge in Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.

According to official pattern, WBJEE exam will be held as an offline test. Candidates will have to attempt category wise questions for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Marking scheme will be different for every question category.
