Holding a Diploma in Marine Engineering degree is a big deal. With this, you can work in India as well as abroad with handsome salary. The placement in Maritime foundation is quite good. And the placement record is around 80-85%. You can even get placement off campus by applying in various companies, which will provide good opportunities. All the best.

It completely depends on you, but as per my suggestion you should not drop a year for any exam whatsoever. There are plenty of colleges available around the country. I would rather suggest you to fill the forms and attempt all the exams of all state JEEs and also the private college exams. You will definitely get a good score and get a course of your choice. All the best.

Firstly you short list some colleges from where you can pursue this course. Most of the engineering colleges require some entrance score but some private engineering colleges may give admission directly. Also stone universities in India have been authorized to offer online degree. You can also explore about it. You can also explore about AMIE for distance engineering courses.
