A comprehensive guide to IIT Kharagpur.
Placements: Most companies that come for recruiting are non-core companies. Among the best-paying ones are non-technical ones like consulting, products, finance, etc. for example JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, Boston Consultancy Group, etc. Tech Companies like investment banking, software, and quant have rare placements.
Infrastructure: Old hostel rooms are there in most halls. Fast Wi-Fi and LAN are available 24x7 with no limits. Mess food is not up to mark. Labs are top-notch, and so are classrooms with a dedicated audiovisual cell. Medical facilities are moderate with contractual doctors.
Faculty: Exams for semesters are held like High School Board exams. Faculty are sometimes too good and sometimes equally bad. Sometimes they teach too much more than what is required for the course. Some pros might as well be partial to some of the students and hold grudges.
Other: CGPA is the only thing you can change when you are on campus, so focus on that.

IIT Kharagpur's honest review.
Placements: Around 80% of people get placed through CDC and the remaining people get their jobs off campus. The highest package in my department was 62 lakh per annum and the average was 20 lakh per annum. The top recruiting companies were Nomura and other consulting firms.
Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi throughout the campus and every student gets a personal LAN port in their room. The classrooms and library are world-class, with well-developed infrastructure and air conditioning. Hostels are quite clean and the food is above average.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified, with many of them having Ph.D.s from renowned world universities. Their teaching is quite good. The curriculum is quite relevant and there are some things that need to be done to improve its relativeness to the current industry. The semester exams are normally quite hard and the fact that all the students are IITians who are graded relatively makes it even harder.
Other: We had the option of a double major, which helped people pursue another degree in any department along with his parents department and also, my department is a circuital branch, which helps to get more internships and placement opportunities. Events like Springs Fest and Kshitij are very entertaining.

IIT of joy - IIT Kharagpur.
Placements: As per last year's statistics, 68.75% of students get placed with the highest and minimum package of 33 and 8.5 Lacs, respectively. The average package was 17.96 lacs, and the median package was 16.50 lacs. Companies like Nestle, Britannia, etc. come every year for placements. Approximately 30 to 40% % students get internships in companies like Nestle, Britannia, etc.
Infrastructure: IIT KGP has great infrastructure with all facilities; my department has AC classrooms with modern projectors to teach. Wi-Fi is available on the whole campus, and at the same time, library facilities are also good. We have a central library that has all the useful books. Free bus and medical services are provided inside the campus. The hostel provides all required facilities, including sports, proper electricity supply, furniture, etc. But mess food is below average.
Faculty: All teachers are helpful; you approach them first and are well qualified. A few teachers are involved in some research. They thought so as well. Yes, the curriculum is relevant for my industry but a little modification is required. Marking is relatively new, so their are no fixed passing criteria. Their are two major exams in a semester, mid-semester and end-semester. Some courses are very tough and some are medium. Overall, the semester is above average.
Other: I chose this course because it is related to my culture and I was looking for the top 5 IITs while counseling and as per my rank, I got this. The best thing about this course is that it is not a loaded branch, so we can get a lot of free time to skill up ourselves. A new and advanced farming method should be thought of. Various events and extra activities happen yearly, like Malhar, NSSC, shaurya, Indian case challenge, etc. Two major festivals—Kshitij, a technical fest and Springs Fest—happen in January every year.

Very good campus, good campus life, good placements, good infrastructure, good facilities.
Placements: 93% were placed in our batch and course last year, with an average salary of 29 LPA. The minimum was around 6 LPA, and the maximum was above 1 CPA. Above 80% got internships from our branch. Texas Instruments, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm were the top recruiting companies with analog and digital engineer roles.
Infrastructure: We have 24/7 Wi-Fi everywhere on the campus. Classrooms are very sophisticated with air conditioning. We have a vast library with a lot of books and air conditioning too. The college conducts many events related to sports and games. Food in the hostel mess is above average.
Faculty: Teachers here are very highly qualified and very knowledgeable. The curriculum is very relevant and contains content actually useful for joining industries. The difficulty level of the semester totally depends on the professor assigned for the coursework.
Other: I personally like electronics. One can get hands-on experience in their respective branches.

IIT Kharagpur -An Overview.
Placements: The placement scenario at IIT Kharagpur for the previously placed batch looked very promising. In the 2023–24 placement season, a total of 1277 students were placed. In electrical engineering, the highest package offered was around 66 LPA, and the average package was approximately 23.3 LPA.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are modern and well-equipped with projectors, air conditions and charging slots for laptops on each bench. The Wi-Fi network is spread all over the campus, providing easy access to the internet. Hostels are very old and not so aesthetically pleasing. Some of the hostels lack washing machines, and the food quality is not so good in many.
Faculty: Professors at IIT Kharagpur are well educated and highly qualified. Although many students are not compatible with their method of teaching, most of the time it is the students who have to study the same subject all over again from external sources. The course curriculum is fairly relevant.
