Yes, government has changed the whole MCA pattern to two year in all the Indian colleges.

You have not writen about the state where you wants to do the B.Tech lateral course. However you can get the B.Tech lateral admission. The DTU, PTU, IPU etc. Offers the B.Tech lateral admissions. While in Maharashtra many of colleges offering the B.Tech lateral admissions through DTE Maharashtra.

There is no restriction as to how many students can appear for this entrance exam for selecting candidates for admission directly into the third semester of 8-semester engineering courses.
