It depends on the institute in which you are seeking to take admissions. Institute has it rules and regulations regarding lateral enteries, eligibility criteria may also be there for lateral entry. Direct admission is also possible but it is completely dependent on institute policies.

Manipur University offers lateral-entry admission to second year of the course if there is any vacant seats remaining or as per the seat intake for the year. Candidates are shortlisted based on admission test and candidate's last qualifying exam. Find below the qualification for BTech lateral entry admission:
- Passed Minimum THREE years / TWO years (Lateral Entry) Diploma examination with at least 45% (40% aggregate in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in any branch of Engineering.

Yes, there is lateral entry admission for the BTech course at Manipur University. If there are any vacant seats in the second year or third semesters shall be considered for admission through Lateral Entry in addition to the intake capacity. The lateral entry seats will be filled up based on the marks secured in Admission Test to be conducted by the Institute in Physics and Mathematics subject. Further, candidates must have passed Diploma examination with at least 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST category) in the appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology.

Yes, MIET Engineering College offers lateral entry to BE/ BTech course. Candidates who have completed Diploma in Engineering/ Technology awarded by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or its equivalent are eligible to apply for lateral entry. Besides, aspirants with a degree in BSc with Mathematics are also eligible to apply.

Talking about the lateral entry in BTech Physics course
Lateral entry is usually for Diploma holders into engineering courses. B.Tech in Physics isn't common; lateral entry in it is rare.
