There are plenty of entrance exams for seeking admission to M.Tech. The most prominent of them is GATE. I am attaching one link that will give you an idea of different examinations that you are required to give if you are seeking admission in the different places or different universities in India. Even though the information is of 2016 vintage, it is still relevant today.

Post graduate diploma in management is definitely not same as ME. ME is a post graduate degree in engineering, whereas PG diploma in management is diploma in the different field of Management and its duration is also one year as compared with 2 years for ME. If you are doing post-graduation in engineering then you are continuing to be in the same engineering field for your career. However when you opt to go for diploma in management it shows that you want to change your career to the management side. This is a big decision that you have to take. Please check the eligibility as below. Candidates wishing to pursue the course are required to fulfill the below-mentioned minimum eligibility criteria. Graduation (BE /B.Tech or equivalent qualification), completed from a recognized institute. A minimum aggregate score of 50% at the level of graduation. The Admission Process is as below.
