The Technical University of Munich, being a public university was known to provide tuition-free studies to students irrespective of nationality.

However, starting from the 2024/25 winter semester, international students will be subjected to a tuition fee as specified by the universities.

Studies remain tuition-free for students from Germany, the European Economic Area or equivalent states as well as for students who have acquired their UG degree in the German Education System.

Those subjected to tuition fee can apply for waivers, exemptions & scholarships via the official university portal.

TUM Munich usually takes 4 weeks to respond to the application. However, in some exceptional cases the application response may take more than 8 weeks as well. For better chances of admission, the university advises its students to submit respective applications with all mandatory documents as early as possible to allow enough time for document & visa processing.

Indian students can pursue TUM courses in both German and English. It is not mandatory to learn German. It is only needed for courses that are delivered in German only. To be eligible for TUM admission, a B1 or B2 level proficiency in German is enough. For courses in English, IELTS or TOEFL-iBT scores are needed.

Munich is considered vibrant and inclusive by students who posted their reviews on Shiksha Study Abroad. The public transportation system has received positive reviews. Special discounts are given to International students and one can easilt go to all key places in the city.

The Indian food in the city has been described as not upto the mark & expensive, therefore many students prefer to eat at McDonald's due to better affordability.
