Q: Is admission to Punjabi University worth it?

Punjabi University, Patiala, has kept up its spree of winning the highest A grade on a four-point scale amongst over 350 universities in the country. The status is awarded by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Punjabi University offers various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, PG Diploma, UG Diploma, Certificate and Doctorate degree programmes. Candidates can apply online for registration. Punjabi University offers courses in the fields of Pharmacy, Library sciences, Management, Commerce, Languages, Computer Application, Performing Arts, Law, Engineering, and Business Administration. The university also has the provision of Lateral entry for some courses.

Q: What is the hostel fee structure of Punjabi University Patiala?

Hostel fees for Engineering Hostels (I. e. Band Singh Bahadur, Mai Bhago Hostel & Bebe Nanki) is INR 920 per month whereas for other Hostels it is INR 420 per month. There are six residential Hostels for boys and seven residential Hostels for girls. The Hostels have all modern amenities for comfortable living for 4000 students. The hostels are given on a merit basis only. The students of low-income groups can be given free accommodation in the University Hostels. Residents of a hostel, where a cooperative mess is being run shall have to pay INR 5000 in advance as a mess bill. This amount is refundable/adjustable as and when the student leaves the hostel or the mess is closed permanently.

Yes, Punjabi University does offers scholarships for its students. The scholarships are offered in the form of stipends, fee concessions, loans, etc., The scholarships offered are :

Merit Scholarship under the National Merit Scholarship Schemes sponsored by the Centre and the State Governments.
Loan Scholarships under the Government of India National Loan Scholarships Scheme.
Scholarships, stipends and fee concessions as admissible from time to time under the State Harijan Welfare Scheme for students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other Backward Classes.
Merit Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the result of the examination conducted by the Punjabi University.
Stipends to children/grandchildren of Freedom Fighters, Ex INA personnel and to those sponsored by the Treasurer, Charitable Endowment, Punjab.
UGC Post-graduate Merit Scholarship: This scholarship will be awarded to university-rank holders both in General and Honours Courses at the undergraduate level.

Best for B.Ed. It is one of the few government colleges in Punjab.

Placements: College do not provide placements. They have a group for placements in which details of job openings are shared, and students can ask for help from faculty. All students are placed for internships and faculty regularly visit you to check your progress. Top roles offered are teaching jobs only.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure is quite good. There are separate labs for every subject. The campus is quite spacious and beautifully maintained in proportion to number of students. There is a canteen where hygienic food is available, medical room is available and a newly built basketball court is available.

Faculty: As it is a government institute, faculty members are trained and have many years of experience. Course curriculum is relevant with 6 months of teaching practice at school. Here you get B.Ed degree for real and not for namesake. Faculty members are highly cooperative and students can ask for any help.

Other: It is the best college around Patiala for B.Ed.

Complete setup for education and job placement, baba band singh college of education.

Placements: 85 percentage of students got campus placement. The highest package offered was rs 7 Lacs per annum while the lowest is 4lakh per annum and avg is 5lakhs per annum. Top class education schools are hiring from this campus. Reliance and tata is hiring companies. 70 percent students got internship from college in reliance, Infosys and tata schools. Top roles are principal and teachers.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure includes big auditorium, foot ball, big building for theory classes, swimming pool, hockey stadium. Wi-Fi labs, computer labs and advanced training labs. Big hostel with the latest technology canteens, high quality food. All medical facilities available for fisrt aid and collaboration with Fortis hospital in case of any emergency.

Faculty: Teachers are Ph.D. and more than 10 years experience. Highly qualified and ground to earth in nature. Courses are the latest curriculum by UGC commission. Pass percentage is 90 percent. Semester are normal study, not very hard. Easy to understand all subjects with picture and other techniques.

Other: This course is very high demand in India and job placement prospectus is very high. Course are use ful even after study is close and relevant in nature. High training exposure isore needed. Campus is not over crowded, upto 10 Lacs scholarship is provided by college, extra activities include dance classes and swimming classes with other sports.

I am satisfied with this college.

Placements: Around 2-3 companies visit our college to recruit students. Around 5-10% of students got placed in our college. The average salary offered ranges between Rs. 30,000 - Rs. 40,000 per month. They offer good salary packages for good students. Our college provides fewer placement opportunities.

Infrastructure: Our college provides us with all facilities. It has many labs like the science lab and computer lab. Classrooms are equipped with projectors and are well-defined. Our department has a library. Wi-Fi facility is available in the library. The computer lab is available 24X7.

Faculty: Our faculty members are helpful, talented, and hard-working. They are supportive and knowledgeable. The course curriculum provides good knowledge. Semester exams are conducted in our college. Exams are moderate.

Other: I opted for this course to become a teacher. It is a good course. Everything is good in our college. They conduct many activities. Our college crowd is not much good. Our college has limited students.

Modern campus and mixed faculty: Excellent facilities and zero placements, but no career support.

Placements: No placements are provided by the college and no companies are invited by the college for recruiting the students. However, proper training is provided by the teacher for state and national-level exams. There are no placements for students by the college.

Infrastructure: The campus boosts state of art infrastructure fostering a conducive learning environment. Library has a vast collection of books. There are modern labs and well-maintained classrooms. Hostel rooms are clean and food quality is better than other colleges. There are proper sports and games equipment available.

Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, helpful, knowledgeable, and well-experienced, but teachers are not that polite with students. However, the course of study is quite easy and relevant. 1st semester is a little tough. Proper tests and mid-term exams are conducted by the college.

Other: The annual fest and sports day are very nice. Scholarship is provided to some students.

Placements: Our organises placements and job fests each year. More than 20-30 renowned companies like Fortis, Dabur, Cadila, Netmeds, Himalaya, etc., visited our college to recruit engineering, pharmacy, agricultural sciences, and nursing students.

Infrastructure: Our college had a huge playground for cricket, football, and badminton. The boys' and girls' hostels were on different campuses. They provided all facilities. Hostels had good security. Our college provided great infrastructure. There were different buildings for different departments. Our college had different labs for every department. The warden was very cooperative and supportive.

Faculty: Our college had supporting management and knowledgeable faculty members. They were qualified. Our college was affiliated and approved by prestigious official bodies, including AICTE, INC, PCI, BFUHS, PNRC, DRME, MS-PTU, IKG-PTU, etc. Various seminars, guest lectures, and workshops were organised in our college.

Other: Many students were from Tricity, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Our college organised two annual fests. Several celebrities visited our college for promotions. The campus area was huge and green.
