M.Sc. in Botany - Batch of 2023
3.2
This is Central University, also known as East Oxford.
Placements: After completing our Masters, we work as a Ph.D. Also, we can apply for government jobs in our field of choice, for example, UPSC. As many students in college are pursuing this field as a career. Not only in UPSC, there are many exams like SSC. They can also apply for private coaching centers.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. Every faculty has separate departments. There is science faculty, art faculty, law faculty, and commerce faculty. Infrastructure is too good. Also in the Science Faculty, there is a museum, which is Asia's number one museum in the context of species collection.
Faculty: There are yearly exams for courses like B.Sc., B.Com., and B.A. And semester exams for postgraduate courses like M.Sc. and M.Com. M.A. also for B.A. LL.B. Faculty are good; there is a separate laboratory for students for experiments. But there is no curriculum activity in college.
Other: I chose this college because there is no minimum attendance requirement, so if anyone wants to prepare for any other exams, they can easily do so.

Satisfied of the kind of educational possibilities. But not satisfied with the placements.
Placements: Out of 24 seats, 11 students in M.Sc. Biotechnology took admission through JNU CEEB. Allahabad University always gives a high cut-off mark for entering in its biotech course. Through JNU CEEB one will get DBT fellowship and yes! A good CV. Honestly, there's isn't any recruitment cell in the department, and the recruitment cell of University isn't that great that you'll get a 20 lacks per annum package. Basically, Allahabad University is famous for Excellence in arts but Science faculty isn't any less. Still, if any student has to choose between Allahabad University and any other University, I'd say, don't come to AU. BUT YES, I must say that if you're planning for your career in government job sector or literature, Allahabad is best!
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is ancient. The vijaynagaram hall of Science faculty is seriously a thing of cultural heritage. The whole University is more than 130 years old. Mathematics dept was established in 1870. You'll never be disappointed with the kind of infrastructure this University is made of.
Faculty: Teachers are good, they aren't that knowledgeable for a student who is aware of every kind of educational possibilities. For a great career in arts, Allahabad University is great but due to some serious riots and rampage during election times, this University has faced some bad reviews.
Other: I chose the course biotechnology. That is good, knowledgeable and new. I wish the number of number of professors could increase and the number of laboratories. About the fests, you'll see one of a kind of fest. There are deepotsavs of Science and arts faculty with rangolis everywhere, and that isn't a thing to miss.

Go for SSC, bank exams, or UPSC preparation, but not science.
Placements: Placements are almost nil in Allahabad University, and very rare cases are heard about M.Sc. placements in college. You may apply for internships in other colleges, during summers or winters on your own. There is no placement cell in the college. I would rate it 3 out of 10.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is of Anglo Architecture. The building is a great example of British Architecture. Wi-Fi is available on the campus, which is scattered all over the city. Labs are not well-equipped. Library facilities are satisfactory. Hostels for boys are a centre for politics and local mafias. Girls hostel has very limited seats. Canteens are not up to the mark. Overall, the campus is good in terms of infrastructure. I would rate it 6 out of 10.
Faculty: Baring a few senior teachers in every department are too old to take classes or not interested, most of the new teachers are just completing the course (which is even not so). Classes are run in botany, zoology, chemistry, etc., but the teaching quality is not up to the mark. There is a terminal test conducted every month so that the students will be busy in completing the course and attend the test without much learning. I would rate it 5 out of 10.
Other: Allahabad has a competitive environment all around. You can see many students preparing for various government jobs. It is like a Kotak for government job coaching.

Continuing culture and infrastructure of university from its establishment era.
Placements: Placements are rare in the university as per their reputation. Students are much more focused to pursue higher studies or qualify government exams for jobs. There is no placement drive for life sciences. Students have to do hard work and explore opportunities for exposures on their own as they can't expect it to be on campus. The same story repeats every year for every batch, either they prepare for government jobs leaving their mainstream or they have to take a drop or continue higher studies in other universities for career.
Infrastructure: It has been onee of the oldest university in India and was established by the British government in 1890. Some parts were, of course, renovated according to requirement but other parts need serious attention of authorities. Still, building gives the essence of its being the oldest building and infrastructure of that time.
Faculty: Professors are helpful whenever students are in need. They motivate students who are eager to pursue higher studies and research. As per other facilities, University is well established in all games with physical education having its department for Masters and research. Wi-Fi connectivity in hostels and campus is good and strong.
Other: Due to the high political interest of people, University lacks fest and is generally busy in rallies. Scholarship is awarded to all people who lie below the poverty line or have excel in batch, also if the student is previously selected for fellowship.

The University of Allahabad has good faculty and infrastructure.
Placements: There is no placement cell, but the department is prestigious. So many students get good internships and jobs in reputed labs and companies. For instance, Fare Labs-Gurgaon, TUV-SUD, Gurgaon, Haldiram Pvt LTD came to the college. The students are undergoing higher studies PhD, Postdoctoral and are working as assistant professors and research fellows at reputed universities and institutions.
Infrastructure: The labs are well-developed. The lecture halls are spacious and adequate. Roxburgh Botanical garden is prestigious in Botany circuit with Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Cycads garden as a treasure. The department has a library of its own besides the central library. Overall, the department has a good infrastructure.
Faculty: The faculty is well-groomed and reputed throughout the nation. Many professors have written books in the field of plant sciences. They're involved in good research and development activities. The curriculum is updated catering needs of R&D and quality education.

Absolutely worth of time, money, studies and placements.
Placements: I have been selected for M.Sc Botany. As my course curriculum was not available in the course section, currently I am pursuing M.Sc Food Technology in 3rd semester. We have three months internship program, which starts in January. Our internship is organised by the department faculty, which increases the chances of getting training at a good place and it increases the chances of getting placed easily. Moreover, internships help us in getting placed on our respective priorities. Many seniors are well settled in different MNCs and others are working with different governmental organisations, which in itself is a big achievement.
Infrastructure: Our department is beautifully sculpted. Although our university has been established since ages, its infrastructure has been made by English men before the Independence. My department is air-conditioned, and the rooms are furnished. The college has NABL lab, perfect rooms with digital display, proper pantry and canteen facilities with perfect quality, microbiology lab and other labs. The infrastructure looks quite attractive, and half of the building reflects the person's image as it is made of glass. It gives quite an attractive look and moreover a perfect place to study. Library facilities with uncountable books are provided. Our university provides tremendous facilities which include good infrastructure, a central library which comprises of more than lakhs of books. The infrastructure is vast and amazing. It completely resembles the old architecture, which is very mesmerizing for the new as well as old students. Not only the departmental but also the hostels are fully furnished and nicely engraved.
Faculty: No other department has such a good professors as ours. Not only in a professional way but also helping at other grounds is done by them. Our course is highly beneficial, as the food is life and it would never get vanished. Our faculty members are NET qualified, IITians and PhD scholars. Professors are with ages of experience, and lab professors are highly knowledgeable, who have always helped in giving countless knowledge.
Other: Many questions about the University of Allahabad arose in mind, about the safety as it revolves around students election and many students welfare, which leaves a questionable remark. I have been studying here for 18 months. Earlier I had the same doubt but lastly I joined, and I got to know the atmosphere is quite pleasant, not only regarding the studying basis but also with respect to others. The question comes about elections. So, I would say that thing is quite fascinating. Many other colleges like JNU and many more organise elections. So the environment and safety are quite well. It's a nice place to study.

Infrastructure: Supportive faculty and good infrastructure connect to the nature classrooms are big that even carry more than 200 students. Sports are Available ncc are availability. Like cricket basketball volleyball and gave big playground and big auditorium fir function .
Faculty: Yes it is helpful. The knowledge we gain it will help further in research difficult level is moderate if you even attend the classes attentively you can score good in exam. If you score 70% in exams it's quite appreciative. Good to go have fun guys.

Review of Allahabad University.
Placements: Least placement offers come for us, and very few students apply for it and get selected. Mostly, students of our course, after completing their post-graduation, went for research or for other track like civil services. Multinational companies and pharmaceutical companies approach us, but no offer came from their side ever. I am highly disappointed with it.
Infrastructure: It is a Wi-Fi campus with smart classrooms and well-maintained labs. There is a library with good quality of books, and students can find books of foreign as well as Indian writers both. Our campus and hostels are neat and clean. The mess of hostels is clean and with hygienic food, but medical facilities in the hostel are average.
Faculty: Teachers are well-knowledgeable with good teaching skills. They are very kind and helpful. This course is good and mostly for students who like nature as it deals with plants mainly. It is helpful for pharmaceuticals and agricultural fields as it gives deep knowledge about plants.

Cutoff will depend on factors like number of candidates appeared in exam and difficulty level of exam. Firstly you have to satisfy minimum eligibility criteria for the same as 55%(45% for SC/ST) marks in BSc or qualifying degree and minimum 50% marks in qualifying exam.
