CUET Syllabus 2025

CUET UG Economics Syllabus

CUET Economics Syllabus 2026: Candidates seeking admission to UG courses such as B.A. in Economics, B.Sc. in Economics. B.Com (Hons.), and so on, through the CUET exam, must check the CUET Economics Syllabus. NTA releases CUET Syllabus and Question Paper PDF on its official website - cuet.nta.nic.in. CUET economics is one of the top 10 CUET subjects and is opted mostly by commerce students.

CUET Economics Syllabus covers important topics such as Consumer Behavior and Demand, Determination of Income and Employment, National Income, Money and Banking, etc. The economics syllabus for CUET UG is divided into ten units, including topics from Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. The National Testing Agency is expected to conduct the CUET UG 2026 exams in the second week of May 2026. The mode of examination will be Computer Based Test.

Q:   Which subjects can I map for CUET Economics?
A:

Candidates can map the following subjects with CUET Economics:

  • Mathematics
  • Business Studies
  • Accountancy
  • Political Science

  • Geography

Q:   How many CUET exam centres can I choose?
A:

Candidates can choose upto four exam cities of their choice while filling the CUET application form. NTA will try best to allot the city of examination to the candidates in the order of preference opted by them in their CUET 2026 application form. However, due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city can be allotted to the candidates. Choice of CUET 2026 centre city will be limited to the State of Permanent Address or State of Present Address only. In case, there are very few candidates from a particular CUET exam centre city, the NTA reserves the right to merge one, two, or more cities.

Candidates will have the oppurtunity to choose the exam city while filling the CUET application form 2026. Candidates must carefully choose the exam cities. No request for change in exam centre will be entertained once the admit cards are issued.

Q:   Are NCERT books enough to cover CUET syllabus?
A:

NTA has mentioned that CUET UG 2026 syllabus will adhere to NCERT syllabus. Hence, it can be assumed that the NCERT books are enough to cover the syllabus of the CUET UG exam. Candidates must note that, CUET exam tests students' understanding of the subject concepts and ability to apply them in various situations.

Therefore, to prepare well and get a good score, it is advised that students refer to other study materials and books designed for national-level competitive entrance exams. The CUET UG syllabus is similar with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus. The chapters and topics are similar to Class 12 syllabus. Unlike other UG entrance exams, CUET UG syllabus does not include Class 11 syllabus.

As per the CUET UG exam pattern by NTA, the Economics Question Paper will comprise 50 questions, and candidates must attempt all questions within 60 minutes. CUET Economics Syllabus 2026

NTA releases the CUET syllabus for economics on the official website. The National Testing Agency deleted Indian Economic Development from the syllabus for the CUET 2025 exam. Aspirants can refer to the table below to learn more about the CUET UG 2026 Economics syllabus.

Course I: Mircoeconomics

Unit 1: Introduction

  • What is microeconomics?
  • Central problems of an economy, production possibility curve and opportunity cost

Unit 2: Consumer Behaviour and Demand

  • Consumer’s Equilibrium: meaning and attainment of equilibrium through Utility Approach: One and two commodity cases.
  • Demand: market demand, determinants of demand, demand schedule, demand curve, movement along and shifts in demand curve, price elasticity of demand, measurement of price elasticity of demand – percentage, total expenditure and geometric methods
Unit 3: Producer Behaviour and Supply

 

  • Production function: returns to factor and returns to scale
  • Supply: market supply, determinants of supply, supply schedule, supply curve movement along and shifts in supply curve, price elasticity of supply, measurement of price elasticity of supply – percentage and geometric methods
  • Cost and Revenue: Concepts of costs; short-run cost curves (fixed and variable costs; total, average and marginal costs); concepts of revenue – total, average and marginal revenue and their relationship. Producer’s equilibrium – with the help of MC and MR.
Unit 4: Forms of Market and Price Determination
  • Forms of market – perfect competition
  • Price determination under perfect competition – equilibrium price, effects of shifts in demand and supply.
Unt 5: Simple Applications of Tools of Demand and Supply Curves The teachers can be given the flexibility to choose the issues: rationing, floors and ceilings and Food Availability Decline (FAD) Theory (the teachers may also choose alternative examples that
are simple and easy to understand)
Course II: Macroeconomics

Unit 1: National Income and Related Aggregates — Basic Concepts and Measurement

  • Macroeconomics: meaning.
  • Circular flow of income, concepts of GDP, GNP, NDP, NNP (at market price and factor cost), National Disposable Income (gross and net); Private Income, Personal Income and Personal Disposable Income
  • Measurement of National Income –Value Added method, Income method, and Expenditure method.

Unit 2: Determination of Income and Employment

  • Aggregate demand, aggregate supply, and their components
  • Propensity to consume and propensity to save (average and marginal)
  • Meaning of involuntary unemployment and full employment
  • Determination of income and employment: two-sector model
  • Concept of investment multiplier and its working
  • Problems of excess and deficient demand
  • Measures to correct excess and deficient demand – availability of credit, change in government spending

Unit 3: Money and Banking

  • Money: meaning, evolution, and functions
  • Central bank: meaning and functions
  • Commercial banks: meaning and functions
  • Recent significant reforms and issues in Indian Banking System: privatisation and modernization

Unit 4: Government Budget and the Economy

  • Government budget – meaning and its components
  • Objectives of government budget
  • Classification of receipts – revenue and capital; classification of expenditure – revenue and capital, plan and non-plan, and developmental and non-developmental
  • Balanced budget, surplus budget, and deficit budget: meaning and implications
  • Revenue deficit, fiscal deficit, and primary deficit: meaning and implications; measures to contain different deficits.
  • Downsizing the role of government: meaning and implications

Unit 5: Balance of Payments

  • Foreign exchange rate – meaning (fixed and flexible), merits and demerits; determination through demand and supply
  • Balance of payments accounts – meaning and components
  • A brief analysis about recent exchange rate issues

Q:   is it enough to learn from NCERT textbooks to clear CUET?
A:

Since the CUET UG 2025 syllabus is in line with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus, it can be safely assumed that the NCERT books are enough to clear CUET UG 2025 exam. Candidates must note that, CUET exam tests students' understanding of the concepts and ability to apply them in various situations. Therefore, to prepare well and get a good score, it is advised that students refer to other study materials and books designed for national level competitive entrance exams. A:

Yes, the National Testing Agency allows CUET applicants to select multiple domain subjects along with CUET Economics. Candidates can select up to 5 UG subjects based on the subject combination of their desired course for the target university/college accepting CUET score.

You can't do BBA from CUET with PCB in 12 th as CUET requires the same subjects as in 12th for BBA you need math's English and general test

No, Bapuji Academy of Management & Research (BAMR) is not under CUET. The academy accepts the scores of certain other entrance exams such as, MAT/PGCET/KMAT. Candidates who have passed graduation with a minimum of 50% aggregate (45% for reserved category) can apply for admission.

No, Terna Global Business School is not under CUET. Rather the college accepts scores of various other entrance exams such as CAT, XAT, GMAT, MAT, MAH-CET, etc. Candidates are not required to appear for the CUET exam rather they must appear for any of these exams.

No, Chandola Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital is not under CUET. Instead the college accepts the scores of the UPMT exam for admission to the BHMS course. This is the Uttaranchal Pre-Medical Test and is conducted by the State Government of Uttarakhand at different centres.
