Strengthening its commitment to global learning, leadership dialogue, and international engagement, Parul University hosted Dr. Ivo Josipović, former President of Croatia, as part of its Global Perspective Series, organized alongside India’s International Movement to the United Nations (I.I.M.U.N.). The special interaction brought together students, academicians, aspiring leaders, and members of the university community, for an insightful talk on social initiatives, public policy, diplomacy, and international relations.

Dr. Josipović, recognised worldwide for his work in public service, law, diplomacy and culture, served as the third President of Croatia and has built a notable career as a jurist, academician, musician, and composer. In the course of the session, participants gained valuable perspectives on contemporary global issues, democratic leadership, governance frameworks and the part youth play in shaping more inclusive and enduring societies.

The Global Perspective Series serves as a space for students to engage with eminent global leaders and policymakers, diplomats, innovators and other thought leaders from around the world. By facilitating these interactions, the university aims to bridge academic learning with real-world global viewpoints, enabling students to grow a deeper sense of international affairs and the new emerging patterns that shape world events.

The event also highlighted the growing importance of cross-cultural conversation and broader international teamwork when it comes to complicated global issues. During the session, there were talks that went through many perspectives, like public policy and civic involvement, but also social development, leadership ethics, and how the role of nations keeps shifting in this connected world. It encouraged students to look past just geographical borders and take on a global perspective instead of staying within the local map.

During the interaction, Dr Ivo Josipović, Former President of Croatia, said, “The education system is not just to educate but to teach values to the generation. We need people from different countries and cultures to be a part of our society. We need to learn and remember that all human beings are equal; we are born equal, and we have equal rights.” Addressing the students, he left them with the message that, “If you want to be world citizens, you have to travel and learn about culture. You have to visit small places far from your home. You should have friends in different countries, exchange emails and thoughts with people from different countries.”

Dr Devanshu Patel, President, Parul University, said, “At Parul University, we believe that meaningful learning extends beyond classrooms and textbooks. Interactions with distinguished global leaders such as Dr Ivo Josipović provide our students with unique access to different viewpoints, help them grasp international developments, and build the leadership abilities that let them contribute in a meaningful way to a world that’s getting more and more interconnected with the time."

The successful hosting of Dr Ivo Josipović under the Global Perspective Series further reflects Parul University’s vision of creating globally aware, socially responsible, and future-ready graduates. Through partnerships with associations like I.I.M.U.N. and continued engagement with international voices, the university remains steadfast in supporting open dialogue, inventive thinking and global citizenship for the next generation of leaders.
