Vadodara-based Parul University took a significant step towards fostering international academic engagement and hosted the former Prime Minister of Slovakia Dr. Iveta Radičová on the occasion of World Health Day. This session was hosted under the Global Perspective Series, in association with I.I.M.U.N, and it focused on Social Initiatives, Public Policy and the importance of International Relations.

Dr. Iveta Radičová, the former Prime Minister of Slovakia, was the first woman to hold this position in the country, leaving a mark of inspiration for all the aspiring women and budding leaders of the new millennium. She is also a Slovak Socialist and believes in empowering the public to fight and speak against violence, and actively participates in movements to promote them. She had served the nation as the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family as well.

Commemorating World Health Day through the Global Perspective Series at Parul University on Social initiatives, Public Policies and International relations, Iveta Radičová highlighted the inherent link that connects social equity, public health and effective policy making. She emphasized that healthcare systems require building blocks which enable all people to access medical services and create more effective health solutions through community-based programs and international partnerships. She discussed how policy functions as a tool which creates accessible and lasting healthcare systems through her research into social programs, and international health initiatives, and collaborative efforts which provide complete health services to all individuals.

While addressing the students, Dr. Iveta Radičová quoted, “we convene today not just mainly to celebrate medical milestones but to examine the structural health of our global society.” Additionally, she shared her thoughts on public health, saying, “For me, the indicator is not the average age of life, not at all, but life in health.” During her session, she also reflected on the current world crisis, saying, “If you are facing a global crisis, you cannot solve it alone. Otherwise, it is like the fight of an aquarium fish with a shark. It makes no sense.”

Expressing his thoughts on the interaction, Dr. Devanshu Patel, President, Parul University, shared, “It is a privilege for us to welcome a distinguished global leader like Dr. Iveta  Radičová among us. When diverse perspectives come together, they create space for understanding, challenge existing norms and pave the way for a more inclusive and forward-looking society. Her expertise has inspired students to think beyond boundaries and contribute meaningfully to society. ”

Global interactive sessions sharing valuable insights and expertise by the renowned leaders from all over the world represent Parul University’s effort in contributing towards the progress of creating a much stronger community to shape the minds that will run the future.
