Assam University offers over 86 UG, PG, diploma, doctoral, and certificate programmes in various fields, such as Engineering, Arts, Science, and Commerce, and for admission in many of the courses and specialisation there are specific entrance exams such as CUET-UG for admission in UG courses, CUET-PG for admission in PG course, JEE-Main for admission in BTech course.

Students need to prepare well for the aforesaid entrance examinations because having a good rank will ensure that the candidate becomes eligible for further counselling, followed by document verification and fee payment.

Assam University can be considered competitive as admission is based on the entrance exam scores. Courses such as BTech in Computer Science and Engineering are hard to get due to the high cutoff in JEE Main. For other courses, the university accepts the CUET UG exam. 50% of BTech seats are reserved for the permanent residents of Assam, and the remaining 50% are for All India candidates. However, admission also depends on academic performance and individual preference. 

Assam University admission 2023 to BTech course is based on JEE Main 2023 ranks followed by JoSAA Counselling 2023. and further followed by CSAB Counselling. Currently, neither Assam Univeristy has opened its admission portal for the 2025 batch nor released the deadline for the BSc course. However, according to the academic calendar 2024, the university closed its admission portal in the month of August. Hence, it can be anticipated that this time also the dates will fall in the same bracket.  

As per the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment guidelines, PwD candidates will be provided with following facilities:

1. Scribe facility: In case the candidate has physical limitation and required a scribe for writing the exam, he/she must be certified in the format provided by CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care Institution.
2. Compensatory time: PwD candidates will get extra time of one hour whether such candidates use scribe facilities or not.

The eligibility criteria for admission to the BSc course at Assam University is candidates must complete their Class 12 in Science stream with Physics and Mathematics (in combination with any other Science subjects) with at least 50% aggregate. Additionally, for the selection process, the University only accepts the scores of CUET-UG conducted by NTA.
