Review of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University.
Placements: Only 10% of the total students in biology opt this course. Placements are not held in our course because it is an undergraduate course. Internships are granted only to students who reach out to teachers of other universities or institutions. There is no help from teachers and administration at all.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available only on the papers, and the classrooms are dirty and gloomy. The labs are good enough in a 'just working' condition. The chemistry lab lacks all the chemicals we required for a few experiments. The college has a central library in good condition and the environment is peaceful. I do not live in a hostel, but the canteen has been renovated recently and it is in good condition and there's no food, just snacks, and cool drinks. Students can play sports and games if they bring their equipment. The last indoor games tournament was conducted two years ago.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable but they don't fully give their 100% to the students. They mostly give the same notes to students every year without any enthusiasm. The course, however, is pretty satisfactory. The syllabus is interesting and fun to learn. Semester exams are easy because the questions are repeated every few years. If students study just the previous year's papers, then they can easily pass. The passing percentage is close to 80%.
Other: Microbiology is the future, hence I chose this course. I learn about new technology in the medical and pharmaceutical industry through my microbiology course. Perhaps if more experiments were conducted rather than focusing on rote learning then we would have more practical knowledge. Our government has not yet granted my scholarship despite having good grades. The campus is beautiful with an adequate amount of plants and trees. The administration rarely conducts extracurricular activities. Events and fests are run by the students and for the students only.
