Review of HBTU (one of the top state universities).
Placements: Around 76% students were placed last year. The highest package was 36 LPA, and the lowest went around 1.5 LPA, while the average was 8 LPA. The top recruiting companies were TCS, Samsung, IBM, Adani, Cognizant, Nestled, asian paints, HCL, indian oil, Reliance, Wipro, Flipkart, Amazon, Berger Paints, ExxonMobil, Hero Motocorp, Optum, Honeywell and SRF Limited. From my course of CSE, around 20% got internships from companies like Google, Adobe, Amazon, samsung r&d, TCS, IBM, Paytm, Optum, Byju's, etc. The top roles offered in my course (CSE) are software development engineer, design engineer, data analyst, cloud engineer, graduate engineer, project engineer, ui/ux designer, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of my department is quite old and needs renovation. Wi-Fi is available with good speed throughout the campus. If I talk about the library, it is well-maintained and you can get almost all books and journals from here. The quality of rooms in the hostel is average, and you'll get double and triply seated rooms in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year, while in the final year, you will get a personal single room for sure. The quality of the mess food is average, but it degrades as time passes.
Faculty: The teachers in HBTU are highly qualified and helpful, while you'll find a bunch of faculty members in HBTU who are very rude and get offended very easily. Overall, the teaching quality is great. The curriculum needs to be improved as soon as possible. It doesn't actually make you industry-ready. The exams are quite easy here, you can easily score marks and a good CG just by studying the day before the exam.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in CSE, and it was the best possible option at my JEE Main rank. The quality of labs could be improved in my course, as the proper computers and components are not available here. The college has events around March-April, hosting 3 major fests. The campus crowd is overall good, you'll find most Kanpur locals here. It has good connectivity as it is located in the middle of the city. It provides all the scholarships; the only requirement is that you are eligible for them.

B.Tech. in Chemical Technology (Food Technology) - Batch of 2028

HBTU is a decent college with a long history and also good recognition in Uttar Pradesh.
Placements: In my course, food technology, the placement is quite good. There are 19 students in the final, and all are placed, so we can say that placement is 100% this year, and the average package is 6.5 Lacs, and the highest is 9 Lacs. The top recruiting companies are Valency, Patanjali, Adani Wilmar, jk food, Jubilent Food and many more.
Infrastructure: Library in HBTU is very nice. Fully air-conditioned and have the best infrastructure. But the infrastructure of hostels on the East Campus is old. It needs yearly maintenance however, the West campus is a perfect example of good infrastructure. There are several auditoriums in college and multiple grounds for sports and physical activities.
Faculty: The teachers in HBTU are very knowledgeable and qualified, but interaction between the students and teachers is not very good. Means there is no bonding between students and teachers. They only teach and never give extra knowledge. Except for a few teachers.
Other: Honestly, I didn't know about the course before taking admission in HBTU. After knowing the course, it seems to be quite interesting and not so hard. The best thing about this college is the alumni network because of its old heritage and culture.

Choose this college if you are not getting good NITs and you are ready for the grind.
Placements: Last year, 100% students were placed, but it varies every year. The highest package was 7 LPA, the lowest 3.36 LPA, and the average package was around 4 LPA. Patanjali Foods Pvt Ltd was the top company. 80% students got internships in companies like HAL, Pepsico, and JK Foods. Roles offered were management trainee and engineering trainee.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs and library are available, classrooms are average. Hostel is also average with all basic facilities, a mess, laundry, canteen, and basic equipments for sports. Infrastructure of both departmental and hostel building is average. Medical facilities are provided by a dispensary in college. Students also receive insurance cover from college supported by a company.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified with average teaching quality. The course curriculum is somewhat relevant to industry. Though students are required to gain skills and experiences in order to be industry ready by the completion of their course. Semester exams are of an easy to moderate level with a pass percentage of 70%.

A review of so called prestigious college.
Placements: The placement in CSE branch is very low right now. Only 51 students are placed, and the job offers are 59. The placement percentage is 65.4%. The highest number of placements is in TCS. There is also a recession going on so the placement might be low due to this. The placement in the chemical branch is the best right now. It has the highest number of placements right now.
Infrastructure: The hostel room I have is very bad. The whole almirah is broken and falling off the wall. Its been over 1 month since I submitted the application for repair but not a single action has been till now. The almirah is changed by a rope so it doesn't fall upon us. The food quality is also not so good most of the time. The computer lab has mostly broken and not working computers.
Faculty: The teaching quality is very bad. Teachers are quite rude and not cooperative. The exams are not so hard. You can pass them easily if you study well. Teacher surveillance is very strict so very less chances of cheating happening. If you are caught cheating, you will get UFM which will ultimately lead to yearback.

B.Tech. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2028

Our infrastructure is improving day by day. Faculty members are really nice and help us.
Placements: This is our foundation batch so exactly we can not define the package and types of companies. But we really put a hard time getting placed. We use LinkedIn profiles to create contacts and try to reach companies in biotech industry because biotech government puts a good effort and gets funding for a larger amount in biotech industry. Total seats in my batch are 75 of which 64 are occupied, and on the other hand, the craze for biotech increases day by day.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure gets enhanced by our faculty members according to the requirements as new labs are designed for us to get into it deeper and understand the techniques used in biotechnology. We have a central library and classrooms with AC. Wi-Fi is provided all over the campus. My hostel is Vishwakarma, where facilities are really good. Canteen is also available for us. The quality of food is so good. On college campus medical facilities are also available.
Faculty: Teaching quality is really good as my professors are highly qualified and Ph.D. holders. One of them has completed their studies outside India, and they are very helpful in behavior. Our curriculum is authentic and helps students become industry-ready and get placed. Semester exams are not really tough if you are regularly attending the class, and then the semester exams go easily. Our semester exam is 50, in which 15 marks are passing marks.
Other: I wanted to be a biotechnologist that's why I chose this field.

Review of B.Tech in Information Technology from Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur.
Placements: Almost 80% of students are placed. The average package is about 8 to 12 LPA. The median package is about 9.5 LPA. Some of the companies that visited for on-campus placement are Samsung, Josh, TCS, and Accenture. The majority of students get placements. Many companies offer internships to students.
Infrastructure: The hostel facility is good, and the food tastes and quality are also good. But there is a lack of cleanliness in the hostels. Hostels have a common room and sports facilities like volleyball. The library is also good. It contains lots of books, which can be issued very easily. The infrastructure of the library is good, with good ventilation and AC.
Faculty: Faculty members are supportive and good. Generally, in each semester, there are two mid-semester and one end-semester exam. The faculty is very knowledgeable and has experience in teaching. The curriculum is very good, it covers various important subjects, and they are in line with industry standards.
