Other: College is good. Senior faculty is fantastic. All faculty members are good in leather technology. If you want to learn by your own you should be here. The hostel arrangements are poor. Campus is big. All branches are good in HBTI Kanpur. There are 8 semester in B.Tech. First two semester is same for all branches.

Reality of a hundred-year-old legacy of Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur.

Placements: Placements in our college are overall good, but I would say it's decent and sometimes bad, depending on the branches here. Branches like Chemical engineering, paint technology, and plastic technology have 100% placements, whereas CSE, IT, and electronics have 70% placements. In branches like civil, or my branch, leather and fashion technology, or biochemical, hardly any students get placed on campus. We have a good alumni network, so many students get placed off campus.

Infrastructure: HBTU is not for infrastructure, as it lacks basic infrastructure, because it's a very old 1921 college. The current government funding is very low, and whatever the college gets, they are giving their best. The hostel is very average. Badminton and tennis courts are not built. It has a basic basketball court. Cricket, volleyball, and football grounds are good and well-maintained. We have a Wi-Fi of BSNL with an 8 GB per day limit. We have a medical card for free check-ups and a college hospital as well. Canteens are very good. It serves tasty food at cheap rates.

Faculty: Some professors are very great while some are very rude, as it's very subjective. They are highly qualified. They are PhD holders with years of experience. The course curriculum is relevant. The college is upgrading its curriculum according to industry needs. Semester exams are of a moderate level, so one can easily pass. Exams are actually difficult.

The candidate must have clearly passed Intermediate/ 10+2 Qualifying Examination from U.P. Board or its equivalent from any other recognized Board / University with a minimum of five subjects in which Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with any one of the subjects from Chemistry / Bio-technology / Biology / Computer Science as Technical Vocational subjects with above mentioned aggregate marks in above three subjects (50% for OBC-NCL/PwD). In case the candidate has passed the qualifying examination from outside U.P., he/she has to upload the Permanent Residence Certificate (Certificate No. 03) of his / her parent (Father or Mother) issued on or after 01.04.2025. Any candidate and his/her parents are domicile of a State Other than U.P. and the candidate has passed 10+2 from an institution/ school outside Uttar Pradesh then these candidates may seek admission against 5% supernumerary seats in each B.Tech. discipline.
