Learning and enduring platform.

Placements: The recruitment drive is not that strong, and mostly off-campus students get placed. The highest package offered was 10 lakhs per annum, and the lowest was 3 lakhs. However, there are good internship opportunities related to projects that students get, and generally research-related roles are offered.

Infrastructure: The department is huge. We have various types of labs for experiments and research. We have a library and the hostel also provides us with basic amenities. The medical care and help are also available. The food is hygienic and taste may depend upon individual choices.

Faculty: Specialization options are provided to students and accordingly, the curriculum focuses on building the chosen area knowledge in depth. There are various seminars and webinars conducted to help us get industry exposure. The exams are a bit difficult.

The college is great. If someone is interested in astronomy, please get enrolled.

Placements: NASA is the top recruiting organisation for this course. There are 20 students in my course and 60% is the minimum mandatory score for each student for getting internship training. The top roles after this course the student can take up include Astronomer and Theoretical Scientist. The lowest package is 1.5 LPA and the highest is 3 LPA.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good but not as good as expected. They need to improve their labs a little bit more. The Hostel Is great but the food in the mess is not great. I never liked Hostel food. The medical facilities provided here are good and the classrooms are well maintained too.

Faculty: The teachers are excellent and they teach us daily one productive thing. There are highly qualified teachers to teach us. My course is relevant because it teaches me many astronomical things and I have written my thesis on astronomy. The passing percentage is 50%.

Can I take direct admission at IIST?

No, candidates can not take direct admission at IIST. The institute offers only entrance-based admission into different UG and PG courses. The college accepts score of entrance exam such as JEE Main, JEE Advance for BTech. The college accepts score of GATE for MSc or M.Tech admissions.

What is the minimum required percentage required to take admission in BTech at IIST?

Candidates applying for BTech at IIST should have passed Class 12 in Physics, Chemistry and Maths with at least 75% aggregate score (general/OBC) and 65% for reserved category. They have to qualify JEE Main and JEE Advance and participate in counselling for seat allocation.
