B.Tech. in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering - Batch of 2025
4.4
Decent and affordable option to study Naval Architecture.
Placements: Really hardworking placement. Though it's an exclusive industry, the placement cell tries their best to get the student placed. Ship design firms are the primary recruiters. Consider yourself blessed if classification societies and big shipyards show up.
Infrastructure: The hostel is really cozy and comfortable. Clean and decent ambience. Calm and serene environment for students to study. Mess food is delectable for a university. Free Wi-Fi is available. The campus gets extremely hot in summers and extremely cold in winters.
Faculty: Faculty is really helpful. The only thing is you need to approach them and put yourself out there. The course is quite difficult. The terms and concepts might be foreign to students from non-maritime backgrounds. Take your projects seriously.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to do something in the maritime industry. All cultural festivals are celebrated in joy and unity.

B.Tech. in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering - Batch of 2027
3.0
Amazing environment for those who are interested in academics.
Placements: I have enrolled in a B.Teach in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding. My batch strength is 50 students; however, there is another batch of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering with 50 students. The first-year batch consists of 100 students, 50 in shipbuilding and 50 in ocean engineering. Most of the students get internships in firms like Vedam located in Mumbai or different shipyards in the third year of their course. We have a placement record of 95 percent as of this year, and some students opted for higher studies, and a few were not interested in sitting for the placements. Top recruiting companies include the IRS (Indian Register of Shipping), located in Mumbai, and L&T, which is located in 3 different states. According to requirements, students are placed in different sections. The top role that is offered after graduation is that of surveyor in the IRS itself.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is better as compared to other colleges; we have a separate building for academics and separate hostels, which are at a very short distance and there is also a lot of construction going on in our college. We have AC classrooms for the students and there is Wi-Fi, which runs at a good speed at academics Sometimes we face issues regarding Wi-Fi in our hostels. The quality of Food in the mess is above average and it also depends on the place from which students are coming. Overall, the food in the mess is average. There is a Gym in the hostel and also facilities to play carrom, table tennis, etc. We have a Library located in the Academic building and all kinds of books are available in the library. There is ground for Football, Cricket, and basketball; however, work is still going on to make it better.
Faculty: Here, the teachers are very helpful, and all the faculty members have done Ph.D.s in their respective subjects. We have our schedule for the whole semester, and we all follow it. During that time, we are not allowed to go anywhere else without the permission of the faculty members and warden. We can ask any questions related to subjects by visiting the respective faculty. According to me, this course is very relevant as it makes a student industry-ready and also helps students build new skills and interact with professionals in our field by doing internships. We have 8 semesters in total. 2 semesters per year, and the difficulty of the examinations depends on the students. Here, the passing percentage is 50 percent, and we also have 85 percent attendance required to sit for the examination.
Other: I have chosen Naval Architecture and Ship Building as my course and have chosen this course because I was always inclined towards the Indian Navy, and I thought this course would provide me with more opportunities to be in the field of Navy and also provide a lot of opportunities for someone who wants to live near the sea. Originally, I am from Mumbai, and therefore, coastal areas are also my favorite. Scholarships were provided before the COVID period, but they have been removed as of now.

B.Tech. in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering - Batch of 2027
4.6
The best college for people interested in ship construction. The best for placements.
Placements: 96% of students were placed in good companies. The highest package offered was ₹60,000 per month for an on-site surveyor and ₹50,000 for designers. The top recruiting companies are IRS, L&T, CYBER MARINE, etc. The top roles offered by this course are on-site surveyor, ship designer, marine structure architect, etc.
Infrastructure: The faculty members are so friendly and interactive. They are highly qualified. The institution provides Wi-Fi, well-equipped labs, A/C classrooms, a good library, etc. The mess is really good with a variety of Indian cuisines. There is an issue with mobile range, as the campus is located in a village area.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. The course syllabus is relevant, and it makes the students ready for the industry. The semester exams are not that easy, but everyone cracks them. The first two semesters cover basic engineering subjects, which are taught in other colleges.

Top recruiting companies are IRCLASS, L&T, HSL, Vedam, and TSL. Classification societies are the best companies. Around 100% of students get placed in 1.5 months. Foreign companies offer placements to students. Some of our seniors got placed in companies like LR, ABS, and Damen.
Infrastructure: Everything is available in our college. Wi-Fi, labs, mess, and hostel accommodation are good. Our college has football, cricket, volleyball, and badminton grounds. There are two big workshops for practicals and welding practices. It has the best academic building with smart and digital classrooms.
Faculty: It is easy for students to score good CGPA as it is an autonomous college. Students score a good CGPA in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.
Other: Our college organises a tech fest named Srestha. It participates in an event Samudramanthan in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur.

Indian Maritime University Visakhapatnam Campus.
Placements: One of the leaders in NAOE placements. All the leading shipyards and Classification societies are regular recruiters. Indian Register of Shipping, Vedam Designs, Inter-graph, Mazagaon Docks Limited, Class NK. Class of 2015 achieved a whooping placement.
Infrastructure: The erstwhile National Ship Design and Research Centre was converted into the lush green campus of Indian Maritime University, Visakhapatnam Campus. The residential apartments were converted to hostels. The hostel consists of 2 BHK apartments. The mess is wonderful.

"It is a good campus with lots of things to explore ". .
Placements: The placement scenario is improving every year. Around 15 students out of 38 got placed in the academic year2014-2018 while it was 12 the previous year. This year till now 15 students are placed in companies like IRS (Indian Registrar of Shipping), Vedam, HSL (Hindustan Shipyard Limited) while few other companies are still to visit. Frankly speaking the shipping industry has ups and downs and at present it is going through a rough patch but the situation may improve in the near future. NOTE:Even Indian Navy came for campus selections this year. The placement cell is well functioning while students get internships during 5th semester from various shipyards in Mumbai, Kochi, Kolkata etc.
Infrastructure: The campus is being shifted to Vangali village, near sabbavaram from the academic year of 2019. It is a 110 acre area which is pollution free (motor vehicles not allowed) and solar power plant is setup. The campus contains Free Wi-Fi facility, the best library among all IMUs, Computer lab (around 16 software are available), Physics and Chemistry labs, Electrical maintainance lab etc. There is a gym and sports room, for medical issues doctor is Present from 0700 to0900 hrs. Food is served in the mess which also act as the TV room. The hostel rooms are spacious and well maintained with 2 in a room. The only major problem to be faced is that it is located in a remote area.
Faculty: At present there is a deficiency of faculty members so there are few visiting faculty members while all the faculty members are highly educated and qualified. There is an easy curriculum set with regard to the field and industry. The faculty members are very helpful and can be approached any time. The student to faculty ratio is only 1:36.
Other: They organize a tech fest namely SHRESTHA in the academic year 2017-2018 while the same TED-X was also organised. The toppers in every semester used to get scholarship of 100000 which was stopped this year due to some issues and can be started again.

A college that will sail you through the voyage of learning with fun. Contented with the facilities.
Placements: As far as the placements are considered, one can find a variety of companies coming starting from government shipyards, design offices, classification societies and even consultancy firms. If you are getting placed in Indian PSU, then the average package offered is around Rs. 7.2 LPA. The design office's packages range from Rs. 4 LPA to Rs. 7 LPA. The classification societies in India offer Rs. 7 LPA while abroad offers Rs. 16 LPA. Even the students get placed in Indian Navy under their various courses. All the institutes mentioned above offer the internship as well except Indian Navy. The stipend offered is around Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,000 per week which is offered at Indian Register of Shipping, Mumbai. The top 10-15 students usually get placed from the campus, and the others find a job within a period of 6 months to one year, while still others opt for higher studies. The job/training sectors are Hindustan Shipyard Ltd., Mazagon Docks Ltd., Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Cochin Shipyard Ltd., Goa Shipyard Ltd. Reliance Defence Ltd. Vedam designs, Vik Sandvil, Lloyd's Register, Class NK, Indian Register of Shipping and Intergraph. The placement scenario is dependant on the market which is quite sinusoidal. Earlier, as good as 27 students got placed out of 36, but in the last one year, it has dipped due to various policies in shipbuilding.
Infrastructure: The campus is well-equipped with all the necessary infrastructure. There are classrooms, electronics, noise and vibration laboratory. One can find some of the most sophisticated instruments present in the labs. The free Wi-Fi access 24*7 is an added bonus. A gym and the sports equipment are present in sufficient number and in good condition. TV has been installed for recreation. The hygienic food is available in the mess. The hostel rooms are clean and well maintained. A small tank is there for minor testing facilities. A medical room is present with a doctor visiting at regular intervals. Also, the new 100-acre campus is being put up, and things will surely change for much more better in the coming few months.
Faculty: The course curriculum has been well designed by the experienced teachers from across India in this field. The faculty who are teaching here are renowned all over. Most of them are well qualified, but a few of them remain as contract faculty which at times tends to affect the quality of the education. But they are knowledgeable enough. The teachers use the conventional methods of books, lecture, notes and also modern methods like PPTs. Also, a sufficient number of industrial visits are organised to correlate the theory with the practical. The curriculum is up to date as per the industry requirements and is regularly revised. The student to teacher ratio is 20:1.
Other: The campus is located amidst the well-maintained area in Scindia just beside the Naval Park Housing Society. It is well-connected with the road transport, both airport and railway station are half an hour distance apart. The university provides the scholarship in the form of merit award as Rs. 1 lakh to topper of each semester, followed by four students getting Rs. 75,000 and the next four students getting Rs. 50,000. Most of the students are innovative. They are cordial and work for the development of themselves as well as the society as a whole. The exposure to NSS activities is also there. The academic calendar is full of the extracurricular activities like debate, elocution, just a minute, speech, article writing, painting, sketching, drawing, singing, dancing, quiz, rangoli, cleanliness drives, and other sports events. The college organises one tech fest annually, and the students are also funded to take part in all sorts of competitions being held in other colleges. The campus maintains an e-magazine La Ola which has spread its sails across India and also abroad in the voyage so far. Also, it has clubs of literary, photography, music and dance.
