Q:   Can I get admission in IMUC for B.Tech with 60% in Class 12th?
A:

IMUC admits B.Tech students with a class 12 GPA of 60%, hence the answer is yes. It is noteworthy, therefore, that the minimum scores required for admission to the B.Tech programs at IMUC differ based on the particular course and the candidate's level. The admission committee will take your performance on the IMUC CET entrance exam into account in addition to your Class 12th percentage. Paper 1 and Paper 2 are the two papers that make up the IMUC B.Tech admission exam. Paper 1 is meant to evaluate your understanding of mathematics, physics, and chemistry; Paper 2 is meant to evaluate your engineering and problem-solving skills. Understanding the material in its entirety, practicing answering previous year's question papers, and taking mock exams to assess your progress are all crucial components of an efficient preparation strategy for the IMUC B.Tech entrance exam. If you want to improve your preparation, you should also think about taking coaching to do well in the entrance exam.

AskShikshaGPT on App
Q:   How many students can do B.Tech at IMUC?
A:

The programme and the resources available determine how many students are accepted into IMUC's B.Tech programs. There are currently 500 students enrolled overall, with 100 students enrolled in each of the following approximate B.Tech programs: mechanical engineering (100), electrical engineering (100), marine engineering (100), and electronics and communication engineering (150). Infrastructure accessibility, teacher strength, and programme demand are some of the factors that affect admission. The IMUC regularly assesses the intake capacity to guarantee academic standards are met and high-quality instruction is provided.

HIMT excels in training.
Placements: I am part of the DNS Batch of 2025-2026. We are placed in the Mediterranean Shipping Company. Our batch is 100% placed in the course. The highest package offered is $370 per month for the position of deck cadets upon joining the job.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure during the course are phenomenal, with Wi-Fi. Classrooms, and labs equipped with the latest technology. Food quality is great. Hostel, canteen, medical, and sports facilities are very good.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is excellent. The course curriculum is relevant and meets industry standards. Students are trained to be industry-ready, with a passing rate of 99% in the college.
Other: DNS is the branch that I always want to select to enter the maritime industry. The best thing about the course is that during our training in HIMT, we get hands-on experience with real-life situations on board. Furthermore, the college is well-equipped with events and fests. The campus crowd is multicultural and multilingual. It helps us learn the art of adaptability. Extra activities are also available for every student to engage in every day.

Absolutely worthy to join HIMT. HIMT teaches us to tackle loneliness, homesickness, and challenges.
Placements: The placement record of our batch is 100 percent. We were placed by M.Sc. before joining HIMT itself. Top recruiting companies for DNS are IMEC, Synergy, BSM, etc. No internship is required, and it will be provided during this course, and the one job we all will get will be as a deck cadet on a merchant vessel.
Infrastructure: In our whole campus, accommodation is provided, an academic block, a galley (mess room), turf for playing football, cricket, basketball, a ground for volleyball, a library, and each class has a maximum space of 40 students, with smart board facility as well as AC provided there.
Faculty: Teachers are so helpful as they were Captains who already been there on ships and carried out many cargo operations, mooring operations, voyages, etc., during their whole career. They taught us everything according to the syllabus and also taught us the real-life challenges that we gonna face in the upcoming years at sea.

This college is okay to survive in, but it's not a very good option.
Placements: Students in my batch were sent for their interview to one of the companies, but the company hasn't responded to them yet. The top companies like M.Sc. Fleet, Demico, Wallem come every year to pick their candidates. Almost 98% of students get selected in M.Sc. Fleet, Demico, Dockendale, Wallem, and many more as cadets.
Infrastructure: The hostel is quite well-maintained. Washrooms are cleaned every day, and cleanliness is maintained, which is quite impressive. There is a small ground for playing football, and good courts for volleyball and badminton. The mess is also quite well.
Faculty: Teachers here are all good and knowledgeable, and the teaching quality is good. Talking about semester exams, this college provides better practice and helps us prepare for the final IMU exams. 50% is the minimum marks to pass this DNS course. The academic block is quite small but fine.

Excellent facilities and instructors.
Placements: I am pursuing a Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS). Our batch has 40 students, and all have sponsored by the Mediterranean shipping company (M.Sc). We are completing the course in December 2025 and joining as deck cadets in the upcoming months. HIMT has a very good placement record. Companies like BSM, M.Sc, Synergy, Zodiac, MOL, and PIL regularly visit the campus.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is the best in HIMT. It includes all the required departments, like we have a VR lab, library, seamanship lab, workshop, turf for playing cricket, football, pickleball, badminton, and basketball. The quality of food is good, and the hostel has very good infrastructure, and there is an indoor sports room on each floor of the E block.
Faculty: The teaching quality is excellent, all the teachers are captains, chief officers, chief engineers, and well-trained instructors. All the teachers have excellent experience and knowledge, and they will prepare you for the upcoming difficulties and problems on board.

Asia's top maritime college.
Placements: About my course, it's a one year course in which we complete our pre-sea training in college and 18 months on-board ship. Also, in our batch, all got placed in the world's largest shipping company, M.Sc. And many companies are visiting and giving more placement opportunities to our college students.
Infrastructure: About infrastructure, it was very spacious and green campus. Everything that we had, like a hostel room, swimming, computer lab, Seamen ship lab, was built with world-class technology, and they have a VR simulator which made us learn with real-life situations.
Faculty: Teachers from our campus are highly educated, qualified and experienced, with them, we gained more knowledge which helps us to survive in any worse condition in our shipping life. Also they do have a feedback system in which if we feel like not understanding, we can tell them so that they'll help us to give more solutions and help us to learn more easily.

GME course from HIMT is a pathway to a successful career.
Placements: About 80% of students are placed in various shipping companies like MMSI, M.Sc., BSM, Damico, and Zodiac, all selected as TME. At HIMT, if you have good academics and speak well, getting a placement is not difficult. Focus on the basics and have good communication skills. That is the shortcut for placement.
Infrastructure: In the hostel, you get a sharing room space. You get your own bed, cot, pillow, and all covers, one study table and chair each, and one cupboard space. You also get all toiletries, uniforms, and books on campus. The fees are inclusive of all this. Mess is also provided, where you get meals three times a day and coffee and tea twice a day.
Faculty: The curriculum focuses more on Marine Engineering components with practical aspects and hands-on experience. We also get an immersive learning experience through the virtual reality modules developed in-house at HIMT by the Chief Engineers and Master Mariners. Faculty members are the best in terms of core job experience and are seasoned teachers who understand our depth and teach effectively.
Other: Campus life is more discipline-oriented to prepare us for the discipline required in offices onboard ships. We actually love being in uniform and being respected whenever we go out for shore leaves.
