Admission at Nagaland University is merit-based only. Admission to UG courses is based on the class 12th performance of the candidate and admission to PG courses is based on the performance or score in the previous qualifying exam. 

Only for Ph.D. courses does the university conduct an enterance exam which is followed by Personal Interviews. The admission to this course is based on the scores of CSIR NET/ UGC NET. For more information kindly visit the Shiksha website. 

MAT counseling involve 2 to 3 rounds including Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interviews (PI) and Written Ability Tests. All the councelling rounds are conducted by the respective colleges. Candidates will be taking part in these rounds depending upon the process of the respective colleges. The counseling schedule will also ber decided by the colleges only. All India Management Association (AIMA) does not play any role in the counselling process. Different institutes set their own counseling guidelines for admission. The official placement report or brochure is yet to be released. As per the data fetched from NIRF report 2023, 6 UG (4-year) and 106 PG (2-year) students were placed during the 2022 placements. After comparing both universities, ICFAI University has poor placement as compared to Nagaland University.
