Do you know the CUET 2025 total marks required for admission to your dream university/college through the Common University Entrance Test (UG) 2025?. According to the NTA CUET UG 2025 Information Bulletin, the maximum marks for the CUET UG 2025 exam for each subject are 250. However, whether you are a science, commerce, or arts/humanities student, your total marks depend completely on the number of subjects selected while filling out the CUET UG application form. This year, candidates were allowed to select a maximum of 5 subjects onlywhich means that the total maximum possible marks for CUET is 1250.

The National Testing Agency conducted the CUET UG exams 2025 between May 13 and June 03, 2025, in CBT mode. Candidates who appeared for the exams will be eligible for the CUET 2025 admission process based on the subjects opted, their CUET scores, the target university's admission criteria, and CUET Cut Off. Q:   What is the maximum score for CUET UG 2025 exam?
A:

The maximum total marks for the CUET UG 2025 exam is 250. However, the actual total marks you can score depend on the number of subjects you choose during the application process. According to the newly revised CUET exam pattern, candidates can now select up to 5 subjects. However, different universities have different subject combination criteria. So candidates are adviced to check the university-wise eligibility criteria and subject mapping for their desire UG course.

For instance, the subject combination for B.Com at Allahabad University is English or Hindi, Accountancy/Book Keeping, and General Test. Therefore, according to 250 marks per subject, the total maks will be 750.

Q:   Does every university consider all 5 CUET subjects for UG admission?
A:

Not necessarily. Different universities and courses have specific CUET subject requirements based on their admission criteria. Some universities might consider only the scores of CUET domain subjects relevant to the course, while others may require a combination of domain subjects and the General Aptitude Test. Additionally, some programs may prioritize the language test score, especially for courses in humanities and literature.

It is essential to check the admission requirements of your target universities to understand which subjects will be considered for CUET admission.

Q:   What is the CUET UG 2025 total marks if a candidate selects 5 subjects?
A:

The maximum marks per subject for CUET UG 2025 exam is 250. So, if a candidate select five subjects,  the Total CUET UG Marks will be 250 x 5 = 1250 Marks.

CUET Total Marks for 5 Subjects: Highest NTA Score

Q:   What is the CUET UG 2025 total marks if a candidate selects 3 subjects?
A:

If a candidates opts for three subjects in the CUET UG 2025 application form, the Total Marks for the student will be 750 Marks.

For example, if a student selects English (Section I), Accountancy/Bookkeeping (Section II), and the General Aptitude Test (Section III), their total marks would be 750.

It does not matter whether the selected subjects are from one section or a combination of all three sections—the total maximum marks will always be 750, as each subject carries a maximum of 250 marks.

Q:   What is the latest pattern for CUET UG exam?
A:

As per the latest CUET UG exam pattern, the CUET UG will now consist of 23 domain subjects, 13 langauges and General Test. The exam pattern for CUET UG is as follows:

Q:   Which subjects have been removed in CUET UG?
A:

UGC has announced the deletion of 26 subjects from CUET UG 2025 onwards. CUET UG 20 foreign languages and six domain subjects have been removed. Check the list below to know the name of the subjects:

  • Foreign Languages (French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese)
  • Domain Subjetcs (Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, Engineering Graphics)
Q:   When will be CUET UG exam conducted?
A:

CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in May/June for 37 subjects. The mode of examination is CBT (Computer Based Test). NTA did not release official notification for CUET UG date sheet. Candidates can know exam details through CUET UG information bulletin. NTA will conduct CUET UG 2026 exam in multiple phases depending upon the number of candidates registering for the exam. Registered candidates can know the exact CUET UG exam on hall ticket. Candidates will have to report at the alloted exam centre on the day of the examination. The exam will be held in two slots each day depending upon the subject combinations chosen by the candidate.

Q:   What is the CUET marking scheme?
A:

NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2026:

  • Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
  • Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
  • Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
  • If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
  • If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.
Q:   Is there a negative marking in CUET?
A:

Yes. There is a negative marking in the CUET exam. For each wrong answer, one mark is deducted. Negative marking will not be applicable in case of unattempted questions. The marking scheme as per NTA is given below.

i. Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
ii. Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
iii. Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
iv. If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
v. If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.

vi. If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

Q:   Can CUET normalisation reduce marks?
A:

CUET normalisation procss refers to a process of adjusting scores to account for variations in difficulty between different sessions of CUET exam. The aim is to ensure fairness and equity among students who may have taken different sessions of the same exam.

The normalization process shouldn't inherently reduce marks for students. Instead, it aims to adjust scores in a way that maintains the integrity and validity of the assessment. CUET Normalization might involve scaling scores, adjusting grade boundaries, or applying statistical techniques to ensure that the difficulty level of the assessment doesn't disadvantage any particular group of students.

CUET UG Marking Scheme 2025

NTA laid down the marking scheme for CUET UG exams 2025. The total marks for the CUET exam is 250 marks per subject. Below is the marking scheme used by NTA to calculate CUET UG Scores:

  • Candidates will be awarded 5 marks for each correct answer
  • There is a negative marking. For every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • No marks will be awarded or deducted for unattempted questions.
