The CUET 2026 total marks depend on the number of subjects selected by a candidate while registering for the CUET UG 2026 exam. The National Testing Agency has announced the CUET marking structure and total marks in the official information bulletin at cuet.nta.nic.in. The maximum marks for the CUET 2026 per subject are 250. The total marks per CUET applicant will be calculated based on the CUET UG subjects opted for in the CUET online form 2026.

NTA states that candidates can select maximum 5 subjects, including one language, three or four CUET domain subjects, and a general aptitude test (if required). This means that the total possible maximum marks per student is 1250. Hence, all commerce, arts/humanities, and science students planning to appear for CUET 2026 can calculate their total marks for CUET based on the subjects selected.

A candidate's CUET total marks in an ideal situation (with 5 subjects) is 1250. UGC has announced the deletion of 26 subjects from CUET UG 2025 onwards. CUET UG 20 foreign languages and six domain subjects have been removed. Check the list below to know the name of the subjects:

Q:   When will be CUET UG exam conducted?

CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in May/June for 37 subjects. The mode of examination is CBT (Computer Based Test). NTA did not release official notification for CUET UG date sheet. Candidates can know exam details through CUET UG information bulletin. NTA will conduct CUET UG 2026 exam in multiple phases depending upon the number of candidates registering for the exam. Registered candidates can know the exact CUET UG exam on hall ticket. Candidates will have to report at the alloted exam centre on the day of the examination. The exam will be held in two slots each day depending upon the subject combinations chosen by the candidate.

  • Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
  • Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
  • Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
  • If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
  • If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.
Q:   What type of questions are asked in the CUET exam?

The CUET questions are objective in nature and carries four options also known as MCQs. Candidates will have to choose the correct answer option and click on it with the help of mouse. Since CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in a CBT mode, test-takers will be able to mark only one answer option. In case it is the correct option, students will get +5 marks and in case of wrong answer, negative marking scheme will be applied. Hence, candidates must ensure the accuracy of the answer before selecting the answer.

CUET UG Marking Scheme 2026

NTA has released the marking scheme for Common University Entrance Test in CUET 2026 information bulletin PDF. Below is the marking scheme used by NTA to calculate CUET UG Scores:

  • Candidates will be awarded 5 marks for each correct answer
  • There is a negative marking. For every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • No marks will be awarded or deducted for unattempted questions.
  • If more than one option is found correct, 5 marks will be awarded to those who have marked any of correct options.
  • If all options are found correct, 5 marks will be awarded to all those who have attempted question.
  • If none of the options is found correct/ Dropped, 5 marks will be awarded to students who have attempted question.

SRM IST Kattankulathur does mention that its school of Science & Humanities accepts CUET-UG scores for admissions. However, that school has not mentioned anything regarding CUET-UG accepted for any BSc course admissions. Thus, candidates should ask this question from the admission desk.

Jettwings Business School offers BCom and BBA at UG level. The college does not compulsarily require CUET for admitting students. Candidates who meet eligibility are offered merit-based admission. Candidates must fill the application form on time.

No, Bokaro Institute of Medical and Health Sciences admissions do not require CUET. The institute offers merit-based admissions. Students simply have to pass Class 12 with PCM/ PCMB/ PCB and a minimum aggregate of 45% from a recognised board.

No, CUET is not compuslory to take admission in RV University Mysuru. The college offers merit-based admission to most of the progarmmes. Merit is decided based on marks obtained in last qualifying exam.
