CUET Total Marks 2026: Stream-Wise Total Marks
A candidate's CUET total marks in an ideal situation (with 5 subjects) is 1250. But different CUET colleges may have different CUET UG eligibility criteria and subject requirements for one undergraduate programme. Registered candidates can know the exact CUET UG exam on hall ticket. Candidates will have to report at the alloted exam centre on the day of the examination. The exam will be held in two slots each day depending upon the subject combinations chosen by the candidate.
NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2026:
- Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
- Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
- Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
- If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
- If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
- If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

CUET UG Marking Scheme 2026
NTA has released the marking scheme for Common University Entrance Test in CUET 2026 information bulletin PDF. The total marks for CUET is 250 marks per subject. Below is the marking scheme used by NTA to calculate CUET UG Scores:
- Candidates will be awarded 5 marks for each correct answer
- There is a negative marking. For every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
- No marks will be awarded or deducted for unattempted questions.
- If more than one option is found correct, 5 marks will be awarded to those who have marked any of correct options.
- If all options are found correct, 5 marks will be awarded to all those who have attempted question.
- If none of the options is found correct/ Dropped, 5 marks will be awarded to students who have attempted question.
Is CUET Total Marks different for all Categories?
No, the CUET total marks and marking scheme is same irrespective of the category of a students. So, no matter if a candidate is from General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD or any other category, the total marks will be 250 per subject. The category differentiation matters while applying for NTA CUET UG exam and during admission process. Reserved category candidates get advantages in course seat intake, counselling, cut off, etc.
