Common University Entrance Test 2026 ( CUET )

CUET UG Total Marks
The CUET 2026 total marks depend on the number of subjects selected by a candidate while registering for the CUET UG 2026 exam. The National Testing Agency announces the CUET marking structure and total marks in the official information bulletin on the official website - cuet.nta.nic.in. The maximum marks for the CUET 2026 per subject are 250. The total marks per CUET applicant will be calculated based on the CUET UG subjects opted for in the CUET online form 2026.
According to the exam pattern, candidates are allowed to select up to 5 subjects, including one language, three or four CUET domain subjects, and a general aptitude test (if required). This means that the total possible maximum marks per student is 1250. Hence, all commerce, arts/humanities, and science students planning to appear for the Common University Entrance Test (UG)-2026 can calculate their total marks for CUET based on the subjects selected.
The National Testing Agency will tentatively conduct the CUET UG 2026 exams in May/June 2026. The exam will be conducted in CBT mode in multiple shifts and days, across 300 exam centres. Candidates who will submit the CUET application form on or before the deadline and appear for the exam will be eligible for the CUET admission process.
The maximum marks per subject for CUET UG 2025 exam is 250. So, if a candidate select five subjects, the Total CUET UG Marks will be 250 x 5 = 1250 Marks.

CUET Total Marks 2026: Stream-Wise Total Marks
As mentioned above, a candidate's CUET total marks in an ideal situation (with 5 subjects) is 1250. But different CUET colleges may have different CUET UG eligibility criteria and subject requirements for one undergraduate programme. Thus, the total marks for two candidates for the same UG course can differ if their target universities are not the same.

CUET UG Marking Scheme 2026
NTA lays down the marking scheme for the Common University Entrance test. The total marks for the CUET is 250 marks per subject. Below is the marking scheme used by NTA to calculate CUET UG Scores:
- Candidates will be awarded 5 marks for each correct answer
- There is a negative marking. For every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
- No marks will be awarded or deducted for unattempted questions.
CUET Total Marks for 5 Subjects: Highest NTA Score
As the CUET total marks per subject are 250, the total marks for five subjects will be 250 x 5 = 1250 marks. NTA has released the list of application numbers that scored the highest NTA normalised score in the five opted subjects in the CUET 2025 exam. UGC has announced the deletion of 26 subjects from CUET UG 2025 onwards. CUET UG 20 foreign languages and six domain subjects have been removed. Check the list below to know the name of the subjects:

NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2026:
- Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
- Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
- Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
- If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
- If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
- If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.
