National Law University Assam admission is based on merit and entrance exams. The university accepts the CLAT exam for admission. Aspiring candidates must qualify for the eligibility criteria set by the university for the desired course. National Law University course admission begins through online application.

At NLU Assam, there are 30 available seats for LLM. At the postgraduate level, NLU Assam provides a one-year LLM programme. Students may apply if they have a valid CLAT exam score and satisfy the minimal eligibility requirements. An undergraduate degree with a 50% cumulative GPA is the primary qualifying requirement, and the CLAT entrance exam is accepted. The tuition fee structure is 55 K in total. Seven specialisations in LLM courses are available at NLU Assam. Commercial law, corporate law, constitutional law, environmental law, intellectual property law, human rights and international humanitarian law, and international trade law are among the LLM specialisations.

For admission to National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam LLM course, candidates have to register through CLAT portal. Registered candidates for CLAT 2025 counselling will be called by NLU Assam. Candidates, who have been allocated a seat in the provisional lists and applied for revision, should check the status of their seat in the CLAT provisonal lists.

As per NLU Assam NIRF report 2024, the median package offered during UG 5-year placements 2023 stood at INR 6.8 LPA. Further, a total of 16 students were placed and 20 students opted for higher studies out of total 70 students during UG 5-year placements 2023. Earlier, the institute has released the NIRF report 2023 on its official website. According to the NIRF report 2023,  1 BA LLB (Hons) student was placed during NLU Assam placements 2021.
