Steps for DSNLU Admission Process 2025
CLAT registration for DSNLU admissions to UG and PG courses usually starts in January & May every year. Besides, the university also conducts an entrance exam for admission to PhD programmes. Below are the steps to get a seat in DSNLU:
Step 1: DSNLU Application Process 2024
Candidates applying for BA LLB (Hons) or LLM need to apply for CLAT for admission to NLU Visakhapatnam. Aspirants can fill out the CLAT application form via online mode. The application fee for CLAT is INR 4,000 for the General/ OBC/ PWD/ PIO/ OCI/ NRI and INR 3,500 for the SC/ ST/ BPL category. Besides, candidates applying for PhD or LLD can apply on the university website.
Step 2: Selection
The selection for UG and LLM courses is based on CLAT scores. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs). The university conducts an entrance exam for admission to PhD courses.
Step 3: Admission Confirmation
CLAT aspirants are selected for NLU Visakhapatnam via CLAT Counselling. Candidates scoring equal or above the DSNLU cutoff are allotted seats in the university.

The rank improved from 2080 in 2023 to 1390 in 2024. Candidates must score well in CLAT to get a seat in the university. One must also fulfil the eligibility criteria for BA LLB (Hons) for admission.

DSNLU offers PhD in full-time and part-time for three-years. The maximum duration to complete full-time PhD is four-years. Candidates applying for part-time need to complete the course maximum by six-years. In case, if the research is not completed within the maximum period of course for reason, the Research Scholar may be permitted for re-registration for another four years or six years as the case may be for extension of time for on the recommendations of the DRC with Full-time INR 30,000 for part-time and Executive INR 50,000.
