NUSRL Ranchi Admission Overview 2025
NLU Ranchi admissions 2025 are entrance-based. The university considers the scores in the CLAT exam, followed by CLAT Counselling for admission to NLU Ranchi courses. NUSRL offers BA LLB (Hons) at the UG level and LLM at the PG level. Besides, the university also offers PhD course based on university entrance exam scores. Candidates can apply online for any of the courses at NLU Ranchi.

NUSRL admissions are based on entrance exam scores. Candidates must also meet the eligibility criteria set for the applied course. For admission to BA LLB (Hons) course at NLU Ranchi candidates have to register through CLAT portal. Registered candidates for CLAT Counselling will be called by NLU Ranchi through five provisional merit lists, each released by the Consortium of CLAT. Candidates, who have been allocated a seat in the provisional lists and applied for revision, should check the status of their seat in the CLAT provisonal lists. After, that the candidates need to report to NLU Ranchi for admission.
Candidates need to pass LLB or a five-year integrated BA LLB/ any other equivalent exam with a minimum of 55% aggregate to apply for NLU Ranchi LLM course. Besides, candidates must also pass CLAT for admission in LLM programme. One must also hold the documents proving their eligibility for verification at the time of admission.

STEP 1: NUSRL Ranchi Application Process 2025
For NLU Ranchi admissions to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM programmes, registrations are done through CLAT. Candidates must fill out the CLAT application form. The application fee for the CLAT exam is different as per the category of the candidate. For General/ OBC/ PwD/ PIO/ OCI/ NRI, the application fee is INR 4,000, and for SC/ ST/ BPL category, the application fee is INR 3,500. STEP 2: NUSRL Ranchi Selection Process 2025
The registered candidates are required to appear for CLAT entrance exam for admission to BA LLB and LLM programmes. After that, candidates willing to get admission, have to go through the CLAT Counselling process for acceptance of seats. Aspirants must score equal or above NLU Ranchi cutoff for admission.
STEP 3: Final Seat Allotment
Candidates who accepts the allotted seat need to upload all the required documents on the official portal. After that candidates, need to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats within a stipulated deadline.

Students wishing to apply for scholarship at NLU Ranchi can download the form from the university website. NUSRL Ranchi Admission 2025 FAQs
As per last three-year cutoff for BA LLB (Hons) for General Category Home State Quota, the cutoff saw a fluctuating trend. The closing rank in 2022 was 3726 decreasing to 4339 in 2023. In 2024, the cutoff was again improved at 4257.
For LLM, the cutoff was 2213 in 2022 moving downwards to 4031 in 2023 and then finally 3587 in 2024. Looking at the cutoff data, aspirants with state domicile have a chance of getting admission with 3000 rank in CLAT.
The seat intake is the accepting capcity for a particular course. Out of the total seats, 50% of them are reserved for students from Jharkhand and remaining 50% for students from other states. Below is course-wise NLU Ranchi seat intake:

CLAT cutoff 2024 is released for various categories including General, OBC, SC and ST amongst others. As per the CLAT 2024 the All India closing ranks for the General category stood at 1432. For OBC category, the closing ranks stood at 2733.
Going as per the aforementioned cutoffs, candidate with an AIR 2428 and OBC 278 is eligible for the OBC catgeory and not the General category. Since as of now, only Round 3 Seat Allotment has been released, candidates with the mentioned AIR can wait until remaining rounds for the further cutoffs.
