B.Ed at TNOU course is offered as B.Ed General and B.Ed Special Education in a distance education mode through the Department of Education/Special Education and affiliated colleges. The course is spread across four semesters. The duration is two years for candidates with RCI-recognised D.Ed Specialisation Education, Candidates can complete the programme within a maximum period of four years, after enrolment. For aspirants who do not possess any RCI-recognised D.Ed Special Education, the duration of the course is two and a half years. However, the student is permitted to complete the programme within a maximum period of five years, after enrolment.
Candidates seeking admission must meet the TNOU B.Ed eligibility criteria mentioned below:
- Candidates must pass the UG degree examination to apply for a B.Ed. Trained in-service teachers in elementary education (DTEd) working in any Government recognised can also apply.
- Aspirants who have completed an NCTE-recognised teacher education programme via face-to-face mode.
- Aspirants must pass a bachelor's or master's degree in relevant subjects with at least 50% aggregate to apply for the TNOU B.Ed programme.
- Candidates with bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics with a minimum of 55% aggregate can also apply.
