Review of Tezpur University - TEZU

Placements: There are no placements for the social work department. As of now, but the compulsory internships give a diverse work experience. Students need to do three mandatory internships within the four semesters. This ensures that the students get ample opportunity to discover their interest area and also adds to their credibility once they complete their course.

Infrastructure: Classrooms are well-equipped with projectors as the frequent presentations required from the students. There are also field labs for field related work. The library has all the necessary materials and is a digitalised one that helps in efficient handling. The campus has a health centre which can be accessed 24 hours with an ambulance always available. There is a football court, basketball courts, cricket ground available on the campus. There is also a swimming pool. There is a yoga centre available for interested students. Other than these, there is a wide range of different facilities that can be accessed. Hostel rooms are convenient enough, and the food served was prepared to keep in mind and the nutrition aspect. If you want to eat good food and stay healthy, better stick to the hostel food, and it provides at affordable prices. The campus is also very generous with the choices that are made available. There are many canteens and cafes on the campus, and you never run out of options. The campus has a very beautiful and lush green ambience, which is made sure by allowing only bicycles for the students. There is the bus service of the university, which is a great relief keeping in mind the location of the university. The campus is a perfect example of a Go clean and Go green environment.

Faculty: The social work department is very lucky to have faculty from diverse specialisations. The course curriculum aims at gaining a deeper insight not only in theory but also in the practical aspect. From political economy to mental health, the various papers make sure that the curriculum covers almost all the aspects that a social worker needs to be aware of and prepare accordingly.

Review of Tezpur University - TEZU.

Placements: We don't have direct placements. Instead, we have been given compulsory internships in various sectors to work for a month. For the social work department, no companies visited the campus yet. The course is more of field works and related to NGO sectors. During internships, the stipend was not provided, but one can claim for relaxations over folding and accommodations to compensate for the services they offer to the organisation. TU has a placement cell which provides information regarding any job opportunities. It is very effective and useful as it gives important information.

Infrastructure: There is a problem with the Wi-Fi service. It almost remains slow and gives frequent problems while accessing. Classrooms are well-equipped and technologically rich. A central library is available, which claims to be open 24*7, but it gives permission only up to 1 AM. Medical facilities are not up to the expectations. Quality of food is not good. Although there is a ban on oily and junk foods, yet the quality of food provided in the hostel is bad. Overall, the infrastructure is average.

Faculty: In the MSW course, the faculty members are very good and supportive. But, they also give a hectic life. Powerpoint presentations were conducted in classrooms. We got exposure to our field according to the requirement of the course. The course is good if you find it interesting, otherwise not.

Placements: Tezpur University do not offer direct placements. Instead they made provisions like compulsory internship programmes with esteemed organisations based upon interest areas. Also seniors were seen to be placed in Gandhi fellowships and various CSRs. The salary depends on the packages offered and til date it didnot exceeded 5 Lacs per annum. No companies had visited yet for campus recruitment. Students were offered to work in the community for one year and working with organizations in 3rd and 4th semester. 80% of the students got internship from the department. Um only few students got the stipend as maximum organisations donor offer stipends. But they give relaxations regarding the folding and accommodations. Yess TU have an effective placement cell. Where most of the information were provided to the respective departments for placements.

Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure is satisfactory. However sometimes we face Wi-Fi issues like slow networks. The classroom is hygienic and equipped with technologies. The central library is a good source of learning environment here which is open 24*7. The medical facilities are not satisfactory. The quality of food is not good and healthy though the university banned the junk foods recently. No. The overall infrastructure is good and well-equipped.

Faculty: The faculty members of social work are more friendly. They motivates us highly because since MSW is a more of field work programme hence it is essential that faculty members need to be more friendly and supportive throughout the learning process. PowerPoint and classroom methods were mainly used. Since it's MSW we get field or community exposures rather than industry exposure. Yess the curriculum is utmost essential. It facilitates us to understand and identify the issues of the community near university more precisely and working according to their needs.

Other: Three events are mainly held or the north east Science event, Techxetra and the annual sports month. Yes the campus is beautifully crowded with more than 3k eligible people. The campus is located 20km from tezpur town and surroundings are the residing communities like the Nepalis, assamese, Bengal and the minorities. Yess scholarships are provided. Regarding extracurricular activities interested students can gear up on Dramas Gymnasium Basketball volleyball music etc. Based upon respective area of interest.
