Calicut University is one of the best ranked universities present in India. It is ranked 179 by the QS Ranking under the Asian University Rankings - Southern Asia category 2025 and 601-620 by the QS Ranking under the Asian University Rankings category 2025. The university is also ranked 89 by the NIRF 2024 under the University category.

The university offers UG, PG, diploma, and doctoral courses, under 35 different departments divided into nine schools, for different streams, such as Engineering, Science, Law, Commerce, and Management, among others.
