at NIT Calicut, Calicut

Candidates with a BSc or equivalent UG degree with at least 60% aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% aggregate or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category) are eligible to apply for an MSc course of NIT Calicut. The aspirants must hold the UG mark sheets and pass certificates as proof of eligibility. The institute admits candidates only after document verification.

The MSc course admission at NIT Calicut is an entrance-based. Only the aspirants with a valid score of IIT JAM can apply for an MSc course at NIT Calicut. The selected candidates further need to take part in CCMN counselling for seat allotment. For IIT JAM, candidates can apply online.

NIT Calicut has a seat intake of 75 for the full-time MSc course offered in three specialisations. The institute reserves 25 seats for each specialisation. In addition, the institute reserves 5% seats for PwD category candidates followed by norms of the Government of India.

The total course fee includes various components such as tuition fee, caution deposit, admission fee, hostel fee (if applicable), development fee, etc. The total tuition fee for MSc in NIT Calicut is INR 30,000, the hostel facility cost INR 18,000, and a one-time payment (including various components) of INR 30,500. NIT Calicut offers a two-year MSc course in three specialisations. The full-time PG course is offered in specialisations, including Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. Admission to all the specialisations is through IIT JAM followed by a counselling round. Aspirants further must meet the eligibility requirements for these courses.

NIT Calicut offers admission to MSc specialisations on the basis of IIT JAM exam results, followed by CCMN counselling. NIT Calicut CCMN cutoff has been released for round 5. The cutoff was released category-wise for the All India category candidates. Among the General AI category, the closing ranks varied between 984 and 1148. The most competitive specialisation among the General AI category candidates turned out to be M.Sc. in Chemistry. 

If you belong to the OBC category of students and are aiming for NIT Calicut MSc courses, then you must aim to secure a cutoff rank of up to 1254 or less. For 2025, the first round cutoff list is out, wherein the closing ranks varied between 966 and 1254 for the students belonging to the OBC category under the AI quota. So, considering the first round cutoff, it is better to have a lower cutoff rank to improve your chances of securing a seat at NIT Calicut for the MSc programme. NIT Calicut cutoff 2025 has been released for admission to three MSc courses based on candidates' performance in the IIT JAM entrance exam, followed by the CCMN counselling process. For 2025 admission, the Round 1 closing ranks varied between 809 and 945 for the students belonging to the General AI quota.
