I wouldn't say it's a bad college. But I'm satisfied.
Placements: Around 50 percent of students got placed. The highest package is like 6 LPA and the lowest is like 2 LPA. 90 percent of students got an internship and only some got paid internships. Top recruiting companies are like advertising agencies or production companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities like Wi-Fi, drawing lab, classrooms, animation lab, and review theatre are available. These facilities are available in the department. The hostel also has Wi-Fi, a mess, and sports facilities like football ground, cricket ground, basketball ground, and volleyball ground. I'm dissatisfied with hostel food.
Faculty: Teaching quality is below average. Do not expect anything academically because we have to learn on our own as there's not much to study because we have more practical than theoretical. Semester exams are not that difficult as 99 percent of students pass in my department.

Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) - Batch of 2024

Placements and infrastructure here are absolutely satisfactory.
Placements: Many students were placed in the BCA course because the college had a strong background in this course, and the feedback of seniors was very high and reliable. Top-tier companies like Tech Mahindra, IBM, Oracle, etc., recruited. The percentage of students who got placed was almost 60-70. Roles were also good, such as sales manager, product marketing, etc. Packages vary from 4 to 15 LPA.
Infrastructure: If I talk about the facility, infrastructure and the overall environment of the college, it's top-notch. Classes were very airy and clean. The college did not provide any Wi-Fi for the students, but the Wi-Fi was present for the library, computers and smart board. The canteen food was very tasty and had an affordable price while maintaining good hygiene.
Faculty: Teachers were very supportive, and sometimes they talked very frankly to the students. The teaching quality was also great because they were all very intelligent and had a Master's degree. The course curriculum was ready and relevant to government policies. Semester exams were moderate. Also, the students never felt overburdened by the exams and assignments.
Other: The connectivity from the college to the student can be increased by WhatsApp groups because sometimes there was no class, and the student faced a problem.

Best college for arts and science.
Placements: 80 percent of students got placed from my courses in many companies. The packages are based on companies. The highest packages are 8 LPA and roles are allocated for the students based on their skills and performance, and all students get an internship.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are too good and clean in my college life and the courses are best for students' future. The quality of hostels is really good and the food is good in taste for mess students. They give importance to sports and games and canteen facilities are good.
Faculty: Teachers are really knowledgeable and too friendly. The teaching is good and they conduct semester examinations so strictly. 50 percent is the pass percentage in my college. Teachers are qualified to teach students and prepare them for the industries.
Other: My friends and siblings suggested this college and courses and events rest campus crowd is so high.

A decent college for basics but needs better practical training & placements.
Placements: Madras University BCA is a 3-year course mainly through affiliated colleges. Placement percentage is around 30-40% only. Average salary is about 2-4 LPA, the highest goes up to 5-6 LPA. Top companies include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, and Accenture. Around 40-60% of students get internships, mostly off-campus. Common roles are support executive, data analyst (entry), web developer, and BPO jobs. Overall, it is a good basic degree, but strong skills are needed for a high salary.
Infrastructure: Madras University has basic Wi-Fi, computer labs, and spacious classrooms for BCA students. The library is very good with many books and study materials. Labs are useful, but systems are slightly outdated in some colleges. Hostel facilities are average with shared rooms and basic amenities. Mess and canteen food is hygienic but average in taste. Medical facilities and sports like cricket and basketball are available. Overall, infrastructure is decent but not very modern.
Faculty: Teachers at the University of Madras are generally qualified and knowledgeable. They are helpful, but teaching quality depends on the affiliated college. Some colleges focus more on theory than practical learning. The BCA curriculum gives a basic foundation in programming and IT subjects. However, it is not fully industry-ready, so extra skills are needed. Semester exams are moderate and easy to pass with regular study. The pass percentage is usually high, around 80-90%.
Other: I studied BCA at the University of Madras and passed out recently. I chose this course because I was interested in computers and the IT field. The best part is it gives a strong basic knowledge in programming and technology. The course is affordable and flexible for many students. I wish the curriculum had more practical training and updated industry skills. Campus life includes cultural events and average extracurricular activities with a decent crowd. Connectivity is good in Chennai, and scholarships are available for eligible students.

I am absolutely dissatisfied with the faculty members.
Placements: 68-120 students get placed in my course, including the first batch before us. The highest offered in my course was Rs. 18,000 per month. The lowest offered is Rs. 5,000 per month. The average is Rs. 10,000 per month. Titan LeAp is the top recruiting company in my course. Around 35% of students got placements from my course in Titan LeAp. The top roles offered are chartered accountant, investment banker, and chartered financial analyst.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities are below average. There is no Wi-Fi, no labs, just classrooms and the faculty rooms. There is no cafeteria or medical facilities. My college did not support extracurricular activities like sports and games. The hostel facility is not provided by the college, so students should rent a room.
Faculty: We, students and the faculty members, are always on opposite poles. Faculty members are not very friendly. They treat us like we are still high school students, which really frustrates us. Their teaching techniques are bad. Teachers used AI tools to teach us, which might be good to hear, but they didn't explain anything. They'll just come, add a prompt, write it on the board, and leave. It is quite hard for students to even understand the basics.
Other: I chose this course because my cut-off percentage is low and I'm only eligible for this course. There is no best thing about my course as AI is over-taking jobs related to my course. I wish the infrastructure were better, and the teaching methods of the faculty members would have improved my knowledge about this course. There aren't any events or any campus activities even group discussions are forbidden. Only government schemes are applicable. There are no extracurricular activities.

The staff is very kind, and the infrastructure of the college is nice.
Placements: 80% of students are placed in good companies like TCS, Rinex, Matrimony, Flipkart, Xozo, and Josalkas. They can provide sales, packaging, telecalling, and similar job roles. The package of salary is 2.5 LPA for the early stage, and they can give internship certificates.
Infrastructure: In our college, they provide Wi-Fi. Labs are available for any exams, and Python classes can be taught there. The food is okay. Medical support is nearby at Vels Hospital. There are NCC, NSS, and other sports activities conducted, and OD can be provided.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified, and the techniques of teaching were nice. They provide industrial visits twice a year, which is compulsory, and they teach about the company. The last industrial visit was to Malaysia, and our vice chairman sent them.
Other: I chose the course for the purpose of the management field. They train us by giving us opportunities and responsibilities like department secretary, cultural secretary, and class representative. This helps us learn how to manage a crowd and so on.
