B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2028
Offered by NIT Surathkal - National Institute of Technology

My review of NIT Surathkal.
Placements: The placement scenario is really good. There is a placement cell in the college. Almost all the good companies come for placements. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, ZS Associates, JP Morgan, KPMG, etc. visit and offer placements. 80% of students get placed every year. The average package is 9-10 LPA. The highest is 28–40 LPA. It also depends on the students' knowledge and experience. Based on this, companies offer packages. They conduct interview sessions and practical tests to check the students' knowledge.
Infrastructure: The hostel for the 1st year is on a twin-sharing basis. But from the 2nd year onwards, there is a single room per student. Rooms are comfortable, and everything is in order. Every hostel has a separate mess facility. The mess offers different food every day. The food is tasty, and the hostel is secured with CCTV.
Faculty: Faculty of this college is quite reputed and very diligent towards teaching the course. Some professors have more than 30 years of experience. Teachers explain everything according to the course plan and are open to doubts. Teachers usually have Ph.D. degrees and have a vast amount of experience teaching their subjects. They are very disciplined and unbiased in marking the students. A semester examination system is followed. We have 2 mid-semester exams and 1 end-semester exam in a semester. There is also a practical test and viva conducted by an external examiner. The level of the exams is moderate. The course curriculum is good enough. It focuses more on practical knowledge, not only theory. They keep updating the syllabus from time to time according to current needs. In the 1st year, courses from all streams are included, and from the 2nd year onwards, subjects related to your stream are taught. The course is structured in a good manner.

M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2024
Offered by NIT Surathkal - National Institute of Technology

My honest review of NIT Surathkal - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: The college offered decent placement opportunities for chemical engineering students. It had a placement cell that took care of all the placement and job opportunities on the campus. Top companies of the country like IBM, Deloitte, Siemens, TCS, Wipro, Bosch CMS, HCL, Godrej, Kotak, ICICI, Amazon, Infosys, etc., visited the campus for student placements and provided good salary packages. The highest salary offered was around 25–30 LPA, and the average package was 4–5 LPA. A total of 80–85% of the students appearing for college placements got placed in reputed firms.
Infrastructure: There were separate hostels for girls and boys. The college provided many facilities in the hostels, such as clean drinking water, 24-hour water supply, security, a proper environment, and good mess facilities. The mess provided very good quality food. There were separate charges for hostel and mess food.
Faculty: Faculty of the college was very good. They had experienced professors who guided students in the right way. They were extremely helpful and motivated students to try something new. They were all Ph.D. qualified and had practical as well as theoretical knowledge. They were always ready to clear doubts. Semester examination system included end-semester exams and mid-semester exams. Each semester was of 6 months, and the course consisted of 4 semester exams. Lab practical tests and viva examinations were also conducted. The course curriculum was very well structured. The college department provided students with many projects and assignments in groups so that they could gain practical exposure. The course focused on the latest technologies and also offered many research opportunities.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2029
Offered by NIT Surathkal - National Institute of Technology

Campus life is really good. The campus is full of greenery.
Placements: I'm studying at NITK Surathkal as a mechanical engineering student. Around 80-90 percent of students who sit for placements get placed. The average package is around 10 LPA-12 LPA, and the highest can go above 25 LPA. Top recruiters are L&T, Mahindra, Bosch, etc. Around 60-70 percent of students got an internship through campus or non-campus opportunities. Top offered roles include R&D engineer, Design engineer, mechanical engineer, and production engineer.
Infrastructure: The department of my course is quite big, with many facilities like projectors, big classrooms, and sufficient labs and faculty. For internet facilities, we have Wi-Fi and Ethernet. We have a library for study and supportive faculty. Food quality is decent in the mess, but the night canteen and food court offer good food. For sports, there are cricket, football, and tennis grounds and 2 sports complexes, including space for a gym, badminton ground, etc. For medical facilities, we have an HCC health centre.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, supportive, qualified, knowledgeable, and good in their domains. The teaching quality of most of the teachers is really good and interactive, but the issue is that faculty members are quite strict, especially in the mechanical branch. Course curriculum, according to me, is relevant and makes people industry-ready because a lot of students have achieved good success in their career life. Semester exams are quite difficult but sometimes easy also depends on the faculty members.
Other: I chose this course because it has a lot of future opportunities, as this course is growing, plus I was also interested in mechanical engineering, and NITK is one of the best for that. The best thing about this course is that it makes students industry-ready because it also includes projects and improves students' thinking. Although the course is good for technical knowledge, it still lacks real-world skills like communication, which should be improved. On campus, the best thing is that events, fests, etc., happen very often, which help to reduce academic stress.

Review of National Institute of Technology.
Placements: Nearly 80 percent of students got placed, and others also did not like that they were not placed. They went for higher studies. Microsoft was the top recruiter. More than 50 percent of students got internships. SDE was one of the top roles. The highest package was offered 73 LPA for the IT, CS, and CSS branch and 64 LPA for the AI branch.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, everything is fine, but the thing was about food which was good in the specific mess like Satpura, and the remaining mess were also good but not that good. There were night canteens where you could buy and eat up to 1:00 AM. There was a smartbox delivery system where the food came and you could pick up from there.
Faculty: All teachers were highly qualified. The curriculum was not that industry relevant, but from 2nd year it was good. There was not a single criteria for passing. Every course had relative grading, and it totally depended on the course instructor and students no need to worry.
Other: Incident was the best and extraordinary fest in this college.

We have knowledgeable faculty and I'm dissatisfied with placements.
Placements: You don't get any placement here they don't even bother to call any company for the placement because they always want their students to do higher education like MBA and MCA. They don't have a false hope about placement. If you are looking forward to placement this is not for you.
Infrastructure: This college has all the facilities like fans and tables but they don't provide Wi-Fi. The classrooms are normal. They don't provide smart classrooms and in this college we don't have a canteen or even a library they don't support any sports events.
Faculty: The teachers in this college have a lot of knowledge and are well-educated. They try hard to bring good results and conduct the test frequently to keep the students updated. They make sure everyone in the classroom understands their teaching. It has 100 percent passing result in PUC.
Other: I chose BCA in this college because I like to work in IT company. They don't provide a lab frequently they only provide labs once in a semester, and they can conduct events and fests which make students happy. They don't provide any scholarships or concessions in fees.

Satisfied with faculty teaching but not with guest teachers. Really good infrastructure.
Placements: Very few students are placed in B.Com, only around 15% to 20%. The highest package offered in our course is 4 LPA. Companies like TCS and other MNCs visit, but very few students get placed. Internship opportunities are scarce, forcing many students to find off-campus projects on their own.
Infrastructure: Good infrastructure is available for B.Com, with good classrooms, a library, and lab facilities. Good quality food is available in the mess and canteen, but the timing is limited. Sports and games are also very good. Lecturers also support students in sports and games.
Faculty: Teaching is very good in the B.Com course for those who are serious about studies. The teaching quality is good, but teachers do not make students industry-ready. Only subject topics are taught. Very few teachers focus on making students industry-ready. Those teachers are not available to all students. Almost all semester exams are strictly conducted. The passing percentage is good.
Other: I chose B.Com because I am interested in accounting and finance subjects. The best thing is that teaching practical papers is good. I wish the course could be improved to include more industry-relevant content. Real questions should be given for accounting practice. Events, scholarships, and extracurricular activities are good in our college and are well organized.
