The University of Mysore provides modern amenities with state-of-the-art infrastructure to its students. The university is spread across 739 acres of land and offers various facilities like a cafeteria, banking services, health centers, international centers, a big library with 18,000 e-books and 7,500 e-journals, postal services, and other facilities to the students. The university also offers transportation services, hostels, and sports facilities like a cricket stadium, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and others. The University of Mysore infrastructure also includes more than 50 departments. It also has multiple colleges and postgraduate centers, including all the necessary amenities. The university also offers a day care facility to the university employees for the children in the age group of 6 months to 4 years. The main campus is called Manasagangotri. University of Mysore Campus Highlights
The University of Mysore campus is huge and surrounded by lush green trees. With around 85 postgraduate departments, the University of Mysore offers over 150 programs to more than 120,000 students across UG, PG, M.Phil., and Ph.D. levels. It proudly has 228 affiliated colleges, 39 recognized research centers, 138 outreach/research centers, and multiple national and international collaborations. Globally known for its strong research culture, it has 11 PG departments with national research facilities. The campus also includes a Vijnana Bhavana, a central instrumentation facility of the university. Some of the major projects of Vijnana Bhavana include Institution of Excellence (IOE), University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) and Centre with Potential for Excellence in a Particular Area (CPEPA), etc. The infrastructure facility under each department includes a chamber for the chairperson, rooms for faculty members, classrooms with LCD facilities, a computer lab for research scholars, etc. The University also has its own printing press. University of Mysore Hostel Facilities
The Directorate of Student Welfare controls the University of Mysore and offers residential facilities to its students. It has 19 hostels, out of which 9 are exclusively for postgraduate students and 9 are for undergraduates.These 18 hostels provide both accommodation and dining facilities to students of UG, PG, Diploma, M.Phil, and PhD programmes. One hostel is dedicated for working women, which works in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Karnataka. All the hostels are under the surveillance of CCTV cameras for the safety and security of the students. Newspaper facilities for the convenience of the hostel students in university hostels are also available. All the hostels are semi-furnished, consisting of all the basic amenities, including a bed, mattress, study table and chair, cupboard, etc. University of Mysore hostels include facilities such as RO units for clean drinking water, multi-gyms with required equipment, etc. Some other hostel facilities are as follows:

University of Mysore Library
Mysore University Library is known to be the largest and most historical library in South India. The library is developed into a multi-branch system with a main library in the Manasagangotri campus and other libraries spread across the campus. With books comprising Mysore’s history, art, architecture, and culture, the library has a huge collection of books, journals, theses, government publications, manuscripts, and other documents. Besides, the library offers access to extensive e-resources that enable students and researchers to access information anytime, anywhere. Some of the major highlights of the University of Mysore library are as follows:
- The library has more than 7.5 lakh books, theses, reports, and manuscripts.
- Rare palm-leaf manuscripts and ancient scriptures.
- Automated cataloging and self-check-in/out kiosks.
- Reprography services, including photocopying and scanning.
University of Mysore Sports Facilities
For the holistic development of the students, the university has a separate cell called the Directorate of Physical Education, which looks after the sports-related events. The University of Mysore sports facilities include three cricket grounds, four tennis courts, a cinder track, three basketball courts, etc. It also has Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Gangotri Glades, and three indoor stadiums. A well-equipped large gymnasium and a well-maintained swimming pool are also available for the students to focus on their physical health. Other sports facilities available are as follows:

The university is home to Crawford Hall (Mysore University Vice Chancellor's office), a vintage building known for its rich history and grand European-inspired architecture and elegant dome. The iconic building is a paradise for book lovers, and for people who prefer peace and greenery, Manasagangotri Botanical Garden is a perfect place for a morning walk. Those who want to explore outside the university campus have plenty of places to enjoy a good time with their friends. The library has a collection of more than 7,00,000 books. It currently subscribes to more than 225 Indian Journals, 16 foreign journals, 24 popular magazines and 20 newspapers. It has around 15,000 reports and Govt. publications, 20000 Theses and Dissertations, 150,000 bound volumes of journals, 350 microforms; 40 audio cassettes, 38 video cassettes, and more than 50 CDROMs and 50 multimedia CDs on various aspects including National Geographic and Britannica Encyclopedia.
- Hostel
The University maintains seven Men’s hostels and four Women’s hostels. All the hostels have basic amenities like water purifiers, common room, recreation room, mess, TV, laundry services, security, and surveillance system etc.For International Students there are two International Hostels with 90 spacious rooms, each with a balcony opening to the picturesque Kukkarahalli Lake. The independent rooms are equipped with space for study, internet connectivity, kitchenette facility, attached washrooms and enclosed chests for safekeeping of belongings. The International Hostel also houses two computer labs and a spacious dining hall cum kitchen complex. Students pursuing only Diploma/ Certificate courses are not eligible for hostel facilities.
