Artificial Intelligence and Computational Sciences: A Need of Hour

4 mins readUpdated on Jun 3, 2022 16:37 IST

Human Education and Progression of the modern era is not only influenced by the change rather by the rate of the change of technology over decades. This predominant transition is due to the extensive use of internet, digitalization and the vast computational technologies. Due to this recent advancement in computing technologies, the solution to the difficult problems have also been feasible and observable. There are many fields which have done the remarkable progress in the last few years, like Space, Astronomy, Cognition, Biotechnology and Data Sciences.

The Phrase that “Necessity is the mother of Invention” has nailed and is responsible for the rapid development in AI and Data Sciences. Due to the enormous increase of the data, may be due to the Social networking sites, business data, Banking Sector , Education Sector, and many other fields, a compatible technology and skilled technocrats are required to mange, analyze and visualize that data in a methodical manner so that it can be used as an important information. This is the reason why the Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Machine learning engineers have evolved and these jobs have become the highest paying and dream jobs for the youngsters.

Humans are the unique creature of God and it is only because of the intelligence endowed by the nature. This intelligence actually creates a strong edge over the other species and makes them quite different from others. This biological neuroscience has become a strong inspiration for the computational neurosciences. Initially when it was dealt with limited amount of data, data mining techniques were quite enough which focussed on finding out the critical information in the form of the hidden patterns of the data but with the due course of time, with the onslaught of social media, robotics, digital currency, Block chain technology and Internet of things, some computational Intelligence techniques and Artificial Intelligence techniques are also used. Any kind of domain or field in this aggressive materialistic world actually requires the analytics of their data so that the exact insights can be obtained from them, decision support system can be made from it and finally depending upon the analysis , some strong decisions can be taken further for the improvement of the existing system in that domain. Due to the tremendous improvement in the technologies, Artificial Intelligence has created an optimistic influence in all walks of the life. With the invent of smart agricultural devices, advanced irrigation and food production has also increased by the leaps and bounds.

In the unprecedented and high times of Covid-19, to keep the tack of some important aspects like no. of patients, no. of deaths, no. of vaccinated people, , creating the Apps etc, has been conducted through the methodical analysis of the data in the entire world through the computational techniques which was the need of an hour at that time. Initiating from smart transport, smart houses and smart cities, there is no domain left where the machine learning and AI techniques are not used. The students and youngsters have realized the paramount importance of AI, Machine learning and various computational techniques, hence they have strong inclination towards choosing their careers in these fields; they have the clear mindset regarding their dream jobs right from their right from their school time.

All the Educational Organisations in India including IITs, NITs, State Universities and Private Universities have also realized the importance of computational sciences and have done conspicuous advancements in the curriculum of Engineering, Management and Computer Applications. The Universities have introduced various Flagship Programs and Joint Specialization programs in AI and Data Sciences with industrial collaboration so as to provide the students a complete industrial exposure and enhanced learning. Not only IITs and NITs, but in the state and private universities, these flagship programs are on their boom. CT University which is one of the leading and Industry driven Universities of North India has also touched the nerve of the current educational scenario and provides a joint collaborative specialization programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from IBM. The ulterior motive of this collaboration is to bridge the gap between industry and academia where the entire curriculum will be offered by the industry itself and the lectures will also be delivered by the industrial professionals. All the AI and data analytics tools are provided to the students by IBM only and there are three global certifications which will be provided to the students along with the various digital badges to combat with the technologically enhanced modern era.

On the concluding words, in order to match the steps with rapidly changing modern technological world, it’s high time that educationists should realize that only the conceptual and theoretical knowledge is not enough, we need the flagship and specialization Programs with the industrial collaborations so that our youngsters become market ready and they achieve a strong career instead of Jobs.

“In theory, there is no difference between theory and Practice, but in practice, there is”
