IFIM Law School is a perfect destination to enable students to be industry ready professionals, says Associate Director
In an interview with Shiksha.com, Harsh Vardhan Tiwari, Associate Director-Admissions & Outreach at the IFIM Law School, goes into great detail on the main differentiators that allow the school set itself apart from other schools offering comparable programmes. Additionally, he goes into great length discussing the numerous steps the institute has taken to assist students in becoming industry ready, including the Learner Centric Curriculum, the sharing of resources among experts in various fields, and the in-house placements cell.

Q: What are the three things that your institute is doing that will enable it to differentiate itself from competition?
A: I believe IFIM Law School is a perfect destination when it comes to enabling its students to be industry ready professionals.
The three distinctive features are:
- The full time, five-year integrated program offered by IFIM Law School is the result of a collaborative effort of two renowned institutions- JAGSOM Management School, an AASCB accredited institution, and IFIM Law School.
- The faculty is embedded with academicians who hail from reputed law schools including the University of Edinburgh, University of London, Queens Mary USA, University of Toronto, Indiana University USA, University of Buckingham, and many others from around the world.
- Several International Pathways have been created such as with ISDE Business and Law School, Madrid, Barcelona, Spain & Texas A&M University & collaborations with YCM Conflict Management, Peace First Boston & Women’s Rugby Land of Freedom.
Q: What are the top three initiatives undertaken by you that are helping your students become more industry ready?
A: It would look like a reiteration but the initiatives at IFIM Law School have been taken considering the demands from the legal industry. They are:
- Learner Centric Curriculum: Encompasses various interventions like Research Incubation, Personality Enhancement Program, Social Immersion Program, Industry Internship Program, Enhanced Learning Courses
- To bring together people from different disciplines and provides shared resources. We have Centre of Excellence for Consumer Laws, Centre of Excellence for Women, Child and the Law, Public International Law Research Centre, Alternate Dispute Resolution Cell, Legal-Aid Clinic and The Imagination Lab at IFIM Law School.
- Office of Continuous Employment works towards Internships & placement of our students. We also have tie up with Lawyered. Students have secured several International Internships too.
Q: What are the key attributes that a student should have in order to qualify for your institution and perform well?
A: The students should have a penchant towards the study of Law. The candidate should have a minimum aggregate of 45% in Class 12. The student must apply and undergo the Admissions Selection Process. We accept CLAT, LSAT India and ISAT scores.
To perform well, the student should be attentive in Class, attempt all assignments and actively participate in Law School activities. He/she should do internships during breaks.
Q: Which programme/s would you say is/are your best? What is it that helps your institution differentiate itself for this programme?
A: The BBA LLB program at IFIM Law School is world class, with the best faculties and facilities to propel our students towards a successful career in Law. The BBA LLB program is the result of a collaborative effort of two renowned institutions- JAGSOM Management School, an AASCB accredited institution, and IFIM Law School.
Q: What are you doing to improve/drive better campus placements for your current students and alumni? What kind of jobs routinely come to campus? What would you say are the key recruitment trends for your college (observed over the past five years)?
A: The Law School has been in the spotlight for all good reasons: Internships & Placements. 100% internships are provided by the college. Placements are in Law Firms, Offices of Advocates, In House Counsels in Startups. Several students prepare for Civil Services, JAG, and Judiciary. Few chose to go for Higher Education.
Our students participate in various activities such as Moot Court Competitions, Debates, Essay Competition etc. We are fortunate to have amazing kids bringing laurels to our Law School.
The Law School has some amazing Interventions to ensure that our students are first choice for any recruiting company. Some of these Intervention are: Personality Enhancement Program, Social Immersion Program, Industry Internship Program, Enhanced Learning Courses.
