The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) for shortlisting candidates seeking admission to undergraduate as well as postgraduate law programmes. The exam is held for admissions to the NLUs in India, however, many private colleges and universities also accept CLAT scores for admission to law courses. The only NLU not accepting CLAT score is the National Law University, Delhi (NLUD), which conducts its own entrance exam; i.e. AILET for shortlisting candidates.
CLAT 2026 exam was conducted on December 7. The consortium announced the CLAT Result on December 16, 2026. Candidates can use the CLAT NLU Predictor 2026 to get an idea.

Yes, most law departments at private and government law colleges in Chennai do not ask for CLAT exam scores for BA LLB after Class 12. Even the top-ranked Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences BA LLB course requires Saveetha Admission Test scores if you haven't sat for the CLAT exam.
