My Experience at TKM College: The Good, The Challenging, and The Memorable
My time here at TKM College has been nothing short of full of good memories. TKM College is a well-reputed college in Kerala. The curriculum here is well-structured. The college is now autonomous, and the new curriculum is modified, with extra subjects being added to the regular KTU syllabus. This did make my academics a little tougher.
The college offers facilities such as labs, workshops, sports grounds, and a big library. The infrastructure of the college is well-maintained. Teachers are very helpful here; they assist us with whatever query we might have. TKM College is actually considered among the top 5 colleges in Kerala.

Events
Our college gives several opportunities to students, helping them to gain hands-on experience in whatever they are pursuing. There are various things here providing exposure to students, as a result, students get more engaged with the college activities. Some of these include Hackathons, clubs, events, industrial visits, etc.
Other events, including Athena, Mathventures, and Avax are also organised throughout the year. Our techno fest is called Hestia, which is the biggest event organised annually. All these make students more active with college activities, helping them in learning new skills along the way.
Inside the Campus
That sums up most of the college life here. One thing I did not like was the size of the campus. The college campus is small, leaving less room for students to hang out and relax.
Talking of the college culture, it is average. I found most students and faculty here helpful and friendly. The bonding we feel among us and with our teachers is something special. Students from all branches get along well and there is no hierarchy between students, at least from what I have seen.
The Location
I certainly did not like the location the college is located in. The college surroundings are not the best. There are open sewers, with bad odour emanating all the time. There is also a lot of traffic in the area due to other colleges and school being in the same region.
Hostel
The hostels here are decent, with good facilities being provided to students. The hostels are also well-maintained, so that is not an issue.
However, what is an issue is the quality of food provided there. The food is tasteless. Most students staying at the hostels always complain about the same. Several students even had to get admitted to the hospital because of the food they ate at their hostel.
Recently, the college faced a water contamination issue, resulting in the college being totally shut down from February’25 to March’25.
Conclusion
One major challenge I faced so far is the lack of guidance from my mentors. I know everyone cannot be available all the time to help us. I am learning how to become more self-dependant every day. However, my teachers are very helpful, they help me with all my queries.
As my time here is soon to end, I am grateful to have such helpful friends. Without them, it would have been hard for me to manage my college life and academics.
Studying BTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering here has turned out to be very helpful. I have learnt many things in the field of Engineering which I was clueless about before coming here. I am thankful to the faculty here, they are the best. From theoretical learning to practical learning, all I studied here has been rewarding not just for my future career, but also for me as an individual.
