Practicing what we learn in parallel has made an everlasting impacting on my mind, says Neerja
I had a lot of interest in studying Biology, and this developed because of my Science teacher who has always explained the concepts in the easiest and simplest manner. This was the reason to choose Biology as one of the core subjects in Class 11 and 12.
After Class 12 exams, every student has to make a difficult decision in his life. It’s about choosing a career and college. Biotechnology was the right field for me but now the question arises, which college to choose? I came across B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology. I checked about the institute on Google, read student reviews, spoke to a few alumni. All had a positive review and the fee was also reasonable. So, I finally decided to join this college as I was also eligible for the admission.
The campus offers a state-of-art infrastructure, green environment, laboratories and library with a huge number of physical and e-resources available to students. The departmental staff has been cooperative since the days of counselling and that attracted me a lot. Earlier, my aim was to secure admission in MBBS by appearing for NEET exam. I also appeared for the IIT-JEE exam but could not secure the minimum marks required for the admission. I also tried preparing for Anna University but the fee was high, hence, I did not join there. I never chose to undergo any coaching classes for the preparation of mentioned exam. All I did is to prepare by myself using the internet, sample papers and previous years’ question papers. There was no challenge in joining Crescent, as this institute matched all my expectations.
I like spending time in college, learning new and interesting concepts every day. This kept my excitement levels high. Use of presentations, powerpoints, videos and case studies have made lectures interesting and interactive. Especially, practising what we were learning in parallel has made an everlasting impacting on our minds. The institute also organises frequent seminars and cultural activities and invites prominent dignitaries from various races of life to share with us their life journey, challenges faced and how did they manage to overcome. Learning from them is learning life lessons, which is beyond the classroom boundaries.
I am also an active member of the Rotaract Club. It is a platform that facilitates various events, professional and community meetings, etc. A student-driven club, it enhances students' corporate interactions and relationships.
These three years of college life have changed me. Friendly professors and friends have helped me overcome my inferiority complex. Seniors supported us and solved our doubts, they also taught us Bioinformatics and its applications on behalf of Cres Bio-Info Society in their free time. It is one of the fast emerging engineering career ahead.
Though at present, the opportunities in my domain are less but I wish to secure a good position in a reputed company. The future of Biotechnology is bright and challenging and I wish to experience that.
